What a wonderfully self centered comment from conservative.

Walk a little faster honey. And the lights in Jamestown are too long as it is and I never see anyone downtown even when I am forced to go down for some reason.

I am not going to stir the BS but there is no reason the JPD can't have the area looked after a little it only takes a few good stops where everyone can see. That might help. Everyone knows what happens on Baker St. So why not Washington. I know they are spread thin but heck while in that area just stop and watch. Also maybe do something about the time for the lights to change.. IDK just sayin MAYBE

It has become my habit to hesitate for a couple of seconds before proceeding when the light turns green anywhere crossing Washington or Main in my car. People habitually run red lights on those streets. I've had a couple of very close calls.

A problem brought to light by a letter sure brings out stupid comments from uneducated and negative people.

No 'LUCY" murals are evident at these intersections. The traffic is coordinated, but some drivers consider their judgment reliable to miss pedestrians by a few feet,or inches, sufficient to avoid a lawsuit. Washington St. is a major traffic route.Discretion is the better part of valor.Fear is a terrible master.

Did CREDENCE just admit to being a shill paid to post here to stir up political arguments in a completely unrelated topic?

That old safety promo "single file" thing pertained to walking along the shoulder of a road, always single file and facing into on coming traffic so that you can see what's coming at you. The opinion piece notes the failure of motorists to observe the rights of pedestrians using marked crosswalks. I would however concede to the observation regarding the ongoing dangerous situation in D.C.

I hope they fix this before someone is killed. But to formerlyphil's comment about the Lucy murals, you are so right! Those murals are a waste of space. Maybe one would be ok but seriously? Lucy was a good comedienne and all that but enough is enough. Trying to build a city around a long dead entertainer is not looking to the future. Get the traffic problems fixed. Clean up and be business friendly.

WE were taught: "Single file; Indian style, Watching traffic all the while." So, this isn't the big dangerous situation; The big dangerous situation is what the clowns are doing in Wash. D.C.

Obviously a traffic enforcement issue. If the city can't keep a cop there more often then it sounds like the perfect situation for a couple of those traffic cameras; the kind that snap a pic of the license plate of the offending vehicle and then a ticket is forwarded to the registered owner. It's amazing that many drivers believe that they have right-of-way over pedestrians in a right-on-red situation, as long as they 1st make a complete stop! I've even had horns blasted at me several times while I was in the crosswalk.
