Still asking for money? I guess the t-shirts didn't sell very well. Seriously though, Cornell really came off as desperate with the overload of yard signs and web media. It would have been cheaper and easier to just do a good job as a Legislator. I guess she thought it was better to try to fool us with cheesy self-promotion. I feel bad for the brainless lambs who bought her BS.

I hear Lori Cornell is now sending out emails asking people to donate more money to her campaign after she lost.

She cost the taxpayers how many millions of dollars by her no vote. You wonder why people are upset with her ? You must be joking. Lori and her little liberal groupies go clean up your trash from the sides of our roads. She worked so hard. Guess what? We all work hard every day. Differance is we don't all work hard at deceiving our friends and neighbors. Hang your head Lori Cornell. By the way she is still pretty sweet

lets get this county home sold and stop wasting 8k a day that people like Cornell and Whitney endorsed. Also look at the payroll at this home and you just want to scream at the ridiculous salaries

I'm pleased Mr. Barmore won. Sandy's run a nice operation up there for a number of years, and I expect Mr. Barmore will stay the course.

I didn't hear anything from Ms. Cornell that would cause me to vote for her. Believe it or not, the cute kids and snarky tshirts didn't win me over.

Some politicians (Cornell, Whitney Jr.) are of the mistaken notion that being in office allows them to vote their personal opinions. This is as wrong as wrong can be. It is not about the politicians; it is about their constituents!! I note Mr. Whitney Jr.'s protest of the county home vote being so close to election day - this is the way it should be. Vote against your constituents means you get kicked out of office. The voters made an extremely wise decision in voting against Lori Cornell.

@danman: your point duly noted. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Barmore in person yesterday. He is pleasant, articulate and humble. Many personal stories of his character have been relayed to me recently and they all point to a man of integrity, intelligence and humor. He will go out of his way - both literally and figuratively - to do the right thing. From the first-hand accounts relayed to me, I won't hesitate to say that we have indeed made the right choice for our County Clerk.

Noted: These comments have not really anything good to say about Larry Barmore, other than his thanks to his Lord and Savior, (must be God was on his side), just hate filled comments with no basis in fact about Lori Cornell. Remember you get the government you deserve.

The people of Chautauqua County should be ashamed. Some of the vile comments are disgusting. To those so filled with hate, you'd better hope what goes around doesn't come around.

Lori's comments at the end of one of her debates where she said vote for Barmore if you want your tires fixed or your oil changed demonstrated she is NOT a kind and professional individual. NOT ONE person she has "worked" for came forward to highlight her qualifications. Why not?? That alone spoke volumes to me. Raising children shows her management skills? Ask anyone who has been around her and her chaos. Besides, I raised children while working!! I don't think many mothers were impressed with that credential. Time for her to fade away.

Lori Cornell misrepresented herself completely throughout her campaign, touting her extensive career experience yet never documented it. She NEVER revealed where or for whom she worked, glossing over those important details. She had the audacity to use her children as part of her resume, claiming that "raising four children" qualifies her as a manager. Until her letter to the editor in the Dunkirk Observer late last week she claimed 15 years experience - but in that letter, her experience expanded to 20 years. What is she, 36? If she actually had bona-fide work experience, real endorsements from those she interned and volunteered for, showed due diligence in her record-keeping, then perhaps she wouldn't have set herself up to be the bullseye she is now. Hopefully, she has learned a valuable lesson and will stay out of politics, until at least she has some real world experience and maturity.

Although I am happy that Mrs. Cornell lost the race, she is still a human being that worked hard for the position and kept negativity out of the campaign. Yes, she ran for all the wrong reasons and the public saw thru that and elected her opponent.

I think the negative comments are a reflection of how disingenuous Cornell has been to her constituents during her term in the Legislature. Additionally, her flimsy veneer was peeled back quite easily as she showed herself to be a pawn of the CSEA rather than a lawmaker. Her comments and conduct during the campaign process further solidified many opinions that she is not running to serve the public, but rather to further her own political aspirations at the expense of those she is asking for support and trust. Stuff like that makes people angry.

Allison is right. The hateful comments are a poor reflection on Chautauqua County.

Did Lori conduct herself in a professional manner when I spoke to her in 2007 via telephone? At the time, I was a resident of New Rochelle, NY (Westchester County). Assemblyman Bill Parment did not agree with allowing the use of rifles to hunt deer and bear in Chautauqua County - neither did Cornell. That was fine - people can genuine disagreements regarding any issue. However, it not a good thing to be a miserable individual when disagreeing. Cornell referred to me as "the guy form New York City." This was inappropriate and unprofessional!!! I moved back to Chautauqua County in 2008. So, fast forward six years later and I discover Cornell running for public office. Does anyone seriously think I would cast a vote for her? As I have posted before, it is not a good thing to offend people - especially if you may need them at some time in the future. Lori Cornell sounded like a lunatic when I spoke to her. Cornell needs to learn some manners!!

If you want to read hateful, partisan comments, this is the place. As I read some of these comments I was shocked. What kind of mean, hateful people write this stuff. I have known Lori many years. She is smart, honest, kind, true to herself and trustworthy in the extreme . Shame on you. Political zombies!

So, Lori Cornell lost - this is funny beyond belief. Here are two words for Lori - YOU LOSE!! Contrary to what she believes, she is not a "government leader." She is unqualified, unfit to serve in ANY public office. She did not feel comfortable visiting the county clerk's office - well Lori, the voters saved you from being placed in an uncomfortable environment. Cornell has high negative numbers among many voters in Chautauqua County. Only SHE is responsible for this. She is an extremely partisan individual.

Greenbee sounds a little bitter. Cornell can go find a job now since she has never had one in her life. Bob Whitney can help her do that. Maybe a job will open up at the soon to be privately owned nursing home in Dunkirk. She could feed the people or wipe their rearends.

I don't know how you "train" to become a County Clerk, but it takes a person of intelligence, not as one said, "a trained monkey". I've been acquainted with Larry Barmore for several years, and would never describe him as uneducated or back woods. I've known him to be of high character, and a successful businessman. That seems like excellent qualifications for his new job, and I expect he will excel at it.
