This is really taking shape and sounds exciting, especially the Santa Express! Congratulations Lee.

I thought the train station was suppose to be reopened with millions of dollars from the federal government as a multimodal transportation hub and there would be tenants in each wing. Looks just like a mini DJDC that Mr. Harkness is trying to recreate even though he couldnt handle his previous duties.

I just don't see it with the economic conditions in this area. You pay attention if you go to any of these event and see exactly what people are there. Not anyone I want to spend time with.

Isn’t it amusing that we have a brand new train station complete with a caboose but no train?

Right on Carlaw!

This is a great project for the City and the entire region, completed with mostly private investment and a big chunk of our Federal tax dollars finally coming back to us. Federal transit dollars that would have gone somewhere else.

And it IS functioning as a multi modal transportation center with out of town bus, CARTS, charter bus traffic, future train excursions, the new River Walk going through the building, etc.

Also, most reclaimed and restored train stations do not have regularly scheduled passenger train service going through them.

Great project and congratulations to all involved.

The headline should read "Downtown DISTRACTION", as it is like putting lipstick on a pig. Sooooooo. Jamestown is at the roulette wheel, gambling for it's future. And they are putting all the chips on a dead comedian, a train station functional only for toy trains and a crumbling downtown that is promoted by events that disable driving and parking. Nice. Color me unimpressed.

Such a shame that we can't return "real" train traffic to the area. So many opportunities exist, yet the current user of the tracks won't allow ridership on these tracks.

Just think how wonderful it would be to fix the tracks between Jamestown Conewango Valley. Trains could run to Buffalo for events in both directions. There are so many opportunities for rider ship including to Salamanca and Olean.

Yeah, maybe spending $11mil of taxpayer dollars wasn't the best way to waste money but, hey, they did and this is what we have. Let's make lemonade from the lemons and Mr. Harkness seems to be just the man for the job. He did a fantastic job with the prior DJDC and is doing the same so far with this project. It's in its infancy and it's going pretty well. Let's all get together one year from now and see where things are...I'll bet we'll all be very pleased. Way to go, Lee!

Nice to see some positive comments on the page for a change, but the same old stuff from the same old folks.

I think the train station rebuild was a fine thing to do. I was inside for the first time today, helping a friend go to vote there, and I was impressed on how nice a job they did. Since the station cost about as much to rebuild as it would have to tear down, I think they made the right choice. At the very least there's a chance for it to generate some good activity downtown. A vacant lot surely would not have helped the downtown at all.

Look at how handsome Lee is. Is this a train station article or a new ad for Wrangler jeans?
