Cornell, Barmore Debate For County Clerk Job

After Sandy Sopak’s 20 years in office, a new Chautauqua County Clerk will soon be sworn in, and two applicants for Sopak’s job went head-to-head Tuesday night in the Fredonia Village Hall....

How is it that we have no specifics on what exactly it is Ms Cornell has experience in? For example, who has she worked for in her consulting job? How long did she actually "work" in Washington DC? (and really, I find it very hard to believe that anyone would give up a career in DC to come back here to engage in small town politics.) What administrative experience does she have other than working for Bill Parment? Did she ever manage a staff of more than two people? And excuse me, but being a mother of four does not qualify one as a management expert in government.

I'm doing a write in votes for the deputy County Clerk, she sounds like she's better qualified than both of the two bozos running for this office.

I think Ms Cornell's higher education, energy and forward looking leadership can do a much better job in continuing the good work that Ms Sopak accomplished than Mr Barmore. We don;'t need last year's thinking in that office.

Orangeman, may I remind you Sandy Sopak managed a family-owned trucking company prior to becoming County Clerk. What you fail to understand is the clerk's job is a management position requiring someone who understands what it's like to actually have to get the job done, provide customer service, stay within a budget and deal with staffing issues. A business owner, who survives on being able to successfully manage all of those things, knows a lot more about running a customer-service office than someone who has no real work experience.

I attended 2 debates. Tea Party and LWV/AAUW. Cornell was not at one and late for the other. That's all you need to know about her character and how she'll handle the job of County Clerk.

What a slam to every hard working man and woman in Chautauqua County. Obviously Cornell believes that hard work and experience count for nothing. Oh yeah, she's never had a non government job nor gained any work experience.
