Apparently the writer of this article didn't see John Boehner on George Stephonopolis on Sunday. Boehner admitted having several discussions with Harry Reid over the summer and had come to an agreement that Boehner would send a clean CR to the Senate if the Senate agreed to an additional 70 Billion in cuts. They agreed on it in July. Boehner went back to his members (Tea Party)and they said no..lets take a stand against the ACA. So who started this again?

It's easy to pick and choose from the internet to justify one's own prejudices it seems. Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's true. A partial truth, spun rhetorically to slam the target of a right wing blogger, is hardly an honest analysis of a situation.

If the House had sent the Senate a reasonable budget then they could have worked on it and compromised. The problem was, and remains, that the Ryan budget was so full of extremist cuts for social programs and huge benefits for the 1% that reasonable people knew right away it was a non-starter produced in bad faith as a political tool rather than a real attempt to work toward a deal the majority could accept.

This kind of stubborn, hard headed political game playing by the Republican party is what has brought us to the Boehner shutdown. The truth is that this crisis was manufactured by the Tea Party caucus. The whole truth, that is.

This is where I originally posted that you had lied. ct-05-13 8:47 AM Agree | Disagree Seadog what is wrong with you? Every post you ever make on here is a lie or a derogatory statement. Obviously you know how to type and use the internet so check your facts. Were you bullied as a child or were you always a bully? You know there is no such thing as an Obama phone (signed into law by George W.)and yet you keep repeating the lie. Are you too lazy to find the truth and make yourself look stupid with your posts? Come on man, raise yourself up and have some dignity.

Seadog: Oct-04-13 12:21 PM That's because the majority of the readers for the ACA are on welfare, do not work, receive food stamps, have a free Obama phone, have or do not pay taxes, and are boot licking Obama lovers. Is that racist Madman?

Free Obama phone? That was debunked a few years ago...why are you repeating that lie now?

SEADOG for one, that's a lot of hate. People fliping burgers actually make about $8.15 an hour. In Jamestown, college educated are making $15 an hour.

Whether you agree with the Affordable Care Act or not, this LAW has already taken effect. It was voted on in the House and Senate and passed. The Democrats had control of the house at that time and that's they way our government works. The GOP pushed it to the Supreme Court in protest to judge it's constitutionality. John Roberts, Supreme Court Justice elected by George W. Bush, agreed that it is totally legal and it passed the Supreme Court. Now it's law. Now the Tea Part is holding the House hostage and our government, because of a rich guy named Grover Norquist and his elite croneys that run the Tea Party. Obama won the election on Obamacare and the GOP are sore losers and would rather this country fails, because it's not "thier" way. Selfish and very self centered group of people.

Hey, remember the movie version of Popeye? The song for Brutus fits our president. Everyone sing along now: "He's mean, he's mean, he's mean. If you know what I mean."

Why all the anger? I guess because I see a "party" trying to pass themselves off as patriots when in actuality they don't want any government at all. The Koch brothers and FOX have done a wonderful job.

l just love seeing a smiling Michell Bachman saying how happy she was that she could help veterans visit the WWII memorial. And at the same time shut down meals on wheels that feeds 100s of thousands of those same veterans. How come FOX isn't showing that??

This editorial, like so many others from the PJ, is pure hogwash designed to mislead the American People and justify the extremist behavior of the Republican party.

Ezra Klein wrote,

"This is all about stopping a law that increases taxes on rich people and reduces subsidies to private insurers in Medicare in order to help low-income Americans buy health insurance. That’s it. That’s why the Republican Party might shut down the government and default on the debt." ht tp://www .washingtonpost.co m/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/09/30/dont-forget-what-the-shutdown-is-really-about/?wprss=rss_ezra-klein&clsrd

THAT is what this is about: protecting the corporate elite, the 1%, the plutocrats who care nothing for the welfare of the citizens of this country unless that welfare negatively affects their bottom line.

The tea party republicans are among the most corrupt in Congress, in my opinion.
