My experience with internships was that it was a wonderful learning experience provided by patient people to a novice. It not only gives you experience, but something good to put on your resumme and also to learn if you do not want to go in that direction for life. Worth more than a paycheck and cost the company compensation etc.

Unpaid Internships, also known as - modern day slavery.

I have no problem with young people gaining experience, but pay them at least minimum wage: give me a break.

JCC is walking a dangerous line here, giving kids credit for these internships. Just watch the companies that will flock to make this happen. Give businesses an inch, they will take a mile. Soon they will be cutting employees and advertising unpaid "internships" for students and non-students... seen it in plenty of different cities.

Putting people to work for you for free. The nerve of some people!
