If you don't think the Amish contribute to the beer can litter then you are sadly mistaken.

Worried about a little manure. How about the dead animals we have run over. Very stinky especially skunks. Now that is worse than poo.

Here's a thought; The Amish won't lower themselves to take obamma phones (then go on TV and brag about it). (they are saving us money!)

Well, I know they don't gamble, oh except for that guy from Titusville, PA who won $250,000 from a scratch-off ticket. Yeah....he gambled it all away. How do I know this? My brother employs him.

How about their road-side farmer's market? Yeah, tell me how you're going to buy bread and pies from someone who hasn't washed their hands in 3 days. I don't think so.

Poop is indeed biodegradable and good source of nitrogen for plants. Our garden is intertwined with a unique blend of manure, hair and other goodies. And makes for great veggies and homemade pizza.

Poor mrinbetweenie...Are we in a poopoo mood? Ever thought about going out and doing this yourself instead of whining about it? And digger, tell me again how this is abuse?

I also had the opportunity to drive through Amish country on my way to Meadville last year. I witnessed about 10 to 12 children walking to school in early September. And they were all BAREFOOT!!! ABUSE PEOPLE!!

Is it too much to ask to keep the roads clean? Seems so by the responses here.

I have recently had a great opportunity to learn more about the Amish and their faith. I was surprised to learn they did pay taxes, and while most don't accept state benefits I feel it is similar to any group - there will always be some who deviate from their faith. To those who are so critical please take time to get to know some of our neighbors in the Amish community and quit stereotyping. Those who complain - please remove your log prior to trying to focus on their speck.

People always assume that the Amish do not receive any help but recently I was in line behind an Amish girl at a local store using her benefit card to pay for a bottle of pop. I was surprised but I can not judge an entire community by one girl.

Absolutely. The woman probably owns a dog in the city and the city code says you must clean up after your pet.Too lazy to clean it up you shouldn't own one.

Thank you for the letter. I also agree. I read the response from the person worried about his "new" car driving on the manure. What an idiot, dose he park his vehicle all winter?
