My exp is opposite. Finding a spot is easy and the 1 time I didn't put in money, I got a warning instead of a ticket... I'd call that friendly. The only problem I see is the requirement to have change for the meters, wish a card could be used instead or some type of paid membership with a fixed payment.

madman it's not the 25 cents that prevents people from shopping downtown but the aggressive meter maids that by no fault of their own wright as many tickets as possible. Jamestown has painted lines for the parking area's downtown and if your tire touches or your vehicle is outside the lines it's a ticket. The problem with Jamestown is they aren't friendly and chase people away with the aggressive street maids and laws.

A couple of days ago, I needed to make a purchase from a hardware store. I stopped at a “mom and pop” store first. I left work at 5pm only to discover the store closed at 5pm. So then I had to shop at a “big box” store as they were still open. Whose fault is it that the small store didn’t make a sale?

It is amazing to me how people decided not to shop in Jamestown due to a 25 cent parking fee. Eveyone wants everything for free. If that is what stops you from patronizing downtown vendors, then stay away. With that type of thinking I doubt very much you are spending anyway.

I shop in Erie for the most part and at Wallyworld which I hate! Want a Target and a Kohls. But never downtown. So make your meters whateer you want. I am not there to care.

If $300,000 is owed, that is not being aggressive in having people pay parking tickets. I will not shop downtown because of the meters. Warren does not have meters. Usually I do not have the change and I just do not want to deal with meters. I go where there are no meters. In Hamburg they do not have them either.

I have to agree with Hadenough. I plan on never going to DMV Jamestown again and as for parking, I will avoid going to Jamestown as much as possible.

HadENOUGH, I have never had a long or bad experience at the local DMV. They have always been nice and I am never there more than 5 minutes. maybe it's time to look in the mirror to discover your pompous attitude.

They don't charge us to park at the mall or Walmart or any other store in the Fairmount strip. Wonder why people don't shop downtown or avoid doing any business there? That is only ONE reason. Is also a reason besides the ALWAYS long wait and NOT very friendly people at the local DMV that I started renewing everything online or by mail. I'd love to keep the $$$ here but not when it comes at the cost of my blood pressure.

For those with large amounts of unpaid tickets, flag them at DMV and do no allow them to re-register the vehicle. That should take care of a bunch of them.
