I listened to a Democratic Congressman say the rest of the country, or at least the state of Michigan needs to bailout Detroit. He insists that city workers were promised their pensions and they should not be punished for the sins of past politicians. Really! First, all kinds of examples of private sector workers that were promised good pensions for decades only to have the rug pulled out from under them just before retirement. Second, Detroit has been run solely by Democrats for the last 40-50 years. Detroit consistently votes over 90% Democrat in every election. If any group should bailout Detroit, it should be the Dem. National Party. Don't ever think for a moment that Detroit city gov't. workers are innocent victims. They continued to vote for those politicians that helped to create this mess along with their very own unions. Shave their pensions to $30K a year (still better than SS) and put them into Obamacare exchanges for their health benefits.

Punish them because they traditionally vote Democratic, Fedup? That's pretty pathetic.

No monkeyboy, punish them because they caused their own problems. Big pensions, huge benefits, WITH a declining tax base. And, do some checking. Who ran Detroit into the ground? I believe the Dems have had control foe decades.

Irony, getting pretty lazy aren't you?

"Congressman Fattah asks the President to act immediately to help the City of Detroit. Representative Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a leader of the Congressional Urban Caucus, sent a letter to President Obama today calling on the Administration to lend a helping hand to Detroit, Michigan following the news that the city has filed for bankruptcy. In the correspondence, Fattah requests the Administration intercede to make certain that Detroit's future is secure and hopeful. He asks the President to bring together members of his cabinet and members of the White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities to work together to analyze Detroit's fiscal situation and intervene on the city's behalf"

Libs - Demos - The Left - The Weak - The Braindead - The Clueless leading the way. GOD help us. Hitting the concrete. Elected Officials - pulling the handle for the person who talks nice, promises wonderful things, wears pretty shoes etc. Sad are the times.

Yes it ***** when the penison you planned on is cut. With that being said the public unions will be asking for rallies etc to support them. But where were these unions when private citzens had their penisons cut. No where to be found they were not about to help the people who pay the taxes which psys them. I do not blame people if they do not get in a up roar about the cuts.

irony- you could take your pick from a chorus of Dem. politicians and Dem. strategists on TV but the one I was referring to was Rep. Kildee (D-MI).

Whoever the last republican mayor was must have messed things up so bad that all those honest, hard working Dems since then have just not been able to fix the problem.

No, monkeyboy, it is not pathetic. "Live by the sword, die by the sword". Those of you who vote this garbage in, need to suffer under it like the rest of us.
