This is spot on. The big problem today is that a large number of Americans actually think laws protect them from harm. I guess that's why every news organization in America has a crime section.

Gun Control is not about guns. It's about Control. That's the scary part.

I was thinking of all the gun owners in Boston, who, after the bombing, pulled their militias together and helped track down the bombers.

Yes criminals will always get guns. Especially when they can buy them at gun shows like you and I. Guns are often bought (legally) in places like North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, where they are purchased easily and brought up and sold on the streets of places like buffalo NYC, and Detroit where there is a high demand and can be sold at a profit. Nobodies trying to take your guns, they're trying to make harder for the bad people to get them. The easier a good person gets them, the easier it is for bad person to get them as well.

I have to agree. I don't own a gun, nor do I have any desire to but gun control, as a means to protect the law abiding public, seems doomed to failure from the outset. No matter how many restrictions or laws you pass the criminals will get the guns illegally (because, hey, they're *criminals*) and the rest of us will suffer for it. Look at D.C. and Detroit. Toughest gun laws in the US and how much has it affected crime rate? I started out liberal on this matter but more and more I'm becoming a convert to the conservatives way of thinking. Leave the American public's guns alone.

So, are all you folks against gun control in favor of letting anybody and everybody buy whatever and however many guns they want?

Doesn't matter the criminals will always have a gun that they either stole or bought illegally from someone. The person who has one and got it legally will always be penelized for having one.

In NY, to purchase a handgun for the first time you need to get a pistol permit first. That will take 6 months or more to get one and cost you about $150. To buy a long gun you must pass an instant background check. Criminals don’t bother with all of that! So, there are plenty of controls for us honest folks.

Now we have the stupidity of the unSafe Act. Why should we have a limit on magazine capacity? Who determined that 10 rounds is all you need for multiple intruders? Why is a folding stock or a pistol grip on a rifle forbidden when they have absolutely no effect on the gun’s ability?

Guns, guns, guns! Open the door to the 600 lb gorilla in the equation.....gangs and gangsters are the problem. Remove illegal aliens and about a third of the crime drops. Stop feeding the gangsta culture and calling it "minority community" and most of the shooting is gone. How many of those evil white protestant churchgoers do you see in cuffs on the news? Right.

The gun laws in those cities aren't suppose to prevent guns from getting on the streets. Its so they can throw the guys in jail who carry them illegally when caught. You can't prevent guns from getting on the streets, when they can be bought so easily just a couple hundred miles south. The SAFE act in NY is for the most part irrelevant, because the guns don't come from NY. Yes, if someone buys a gun legally and sells to a crinimal illegal that is the main problem. If everyone had background checks and permits like NY, it would help a lot. You wont sell that hand gun illegally if its register to your permit.

I will only say this 1 time. A gun society is a polite society. Where law abiding citizens are allowed to openly carry a firearm, people are all treated as equal and with respect. If an crook, thief, home invader, or gang banger, knew the person that theywere about to assault were armed and able to defend them self crime would come to an abrupt slow down.
