I think the problem is people now days drive with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake thinking that cuts reaction time. In a panic situation they press both as hard as they can. These are the people who have the brake lights on while accelerating and have the turning signal on while crossing a bridge!

I too am glad that this woman was not hurt, and more inportantly, no one else was hurt, however, this incident could easily have turned out differently! If this had been a younger person, numerous charges would have been filed... everything from reckless driving, to failure to obey traffic control devices, failure to keep right, speeds unsafe for conditions, etc. This is another in a long line of accidents caused by "senior confusion", and again, nothing is done. I don't suggest criminal charges, but once you can no longer distinguish the gas from the brake, its time to hand over the keys! I personally witnessed this, and in the past, seniors driving into McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and the Southside Plaza... never a charge filed, never a liscense lost.
