How could our elected officials ignore the businesses that are already here, pay high taxes and are outside the perimeter of college campuses? How is this fair?

Carlaw, from what I have heard and read, the new start-up business can not be a business that would be direct competition of an existing business. Hammond, why all the pent up anger? Impeach him on what grounds? Because you don't agree with him Because obviously the majority of New Yorkers liked him enough to put him where he is today. I am ashamed of the ignorance in this county. He is not perfect, but I haven't come across a perfect politician, or person, in my 69 years of life. So all of you that think he should be out, who is the perfect candidate for you? Greg Edwards? Carl Paladino?

Personally, I think the concept is sound.

What concerns me is limiting the area to zone around the college. I feel the State should allow the municipalities and the Development Agencies to pick the zone within the city of Jamestown. Give the City the choice of where to place these new businesses and then ask JCC to support that zone with a future related High Tech learning annex. This gets the kids downtown and gets the businesses downtown where they will have the most impact.

Also, since the program is untested why not start with one or two cities to see how it works before launching this State wide. This allows the State to understand the impact to current businesses.

A great start, but I feel this concept can be fine tuned!

Some of you people need to get back on your meds.

The area around JCC could use some modernization, the Woodlawn is a dump,. There is lots of old crappy housing on Falconer St not to mention the old crappy apartments to the east.of the College, those should be torn down and Re developed into new business. JCC is one of the crown jewels of Chautauqua County and its the number 1 Community College in the state it needs to be treated as such.

Since he is so into equality, why doesn't he call his "start-up" initiative "economic equality?" It would be a joke if he did. He picks and chooses what businesses benefit. If this isn;t crony capitalism, what is? Sounds a lot like him picking anc choosing who gets to be married, only that is phony marriage, but look at how many bought into his joke of marriage equality. It is just like his strong-arm efforts to limit, control and intrude on gun owners and calling it the SAFE Act!

Carlaw, I agree with you as to why ignore the businesses already here. I like the gov's idea relating to tax free zone, HOWEVER, lets go 1 step further and say we are cutting taxes for everyone across the board. And how do you do that? Simple, WELFARE and Medicaid benefits. In this state, these 2 expenses are way out of hand. Look at the states that have lower or no state taxes, and see what they pay out to Welfare. I guarantee, it is much much lower. When people move to this state just to get benefits, something is wrong. We need to take care of the businesses in this state that provide employment. Also need to decrease mandates to the municipalites so they can operate without property tax increases each year.

The gov has become so corrupt, pick and choose who gets and those who dont. Take from workers and give to those who wont work just to buy their vote. Give to students, hey they vote... Give to union workers, they vote too.. Sick..

Boy do we ever need good leadership. The Republican, Conservative and Independence Parties should be ashamed if they can't find a candidate to endorse that unaffiliated and maybe even some conservative and moderate Democrats could vote for in order to gain leadership and fiscal responsibility next time around. At the rate we are going that may be the last time around for NY State. Our choices have been less than stellar. If we can't get people to the polls we are stuck with self serving career politicians.

ask yourself this: why was there such short notice to the public for the visit? Get his pic in the paper surrounded by his sheep and not give those that his is effecting with his "message of necessity" a chance to have a voice. Go home prince Andrew and pack you bags! Gov. Rick Perry has kicked you around plenty in the last few weeks and you can't hide here.

zero sum game...without stopping the spending side this is simply a political ploy. His ONLY goal is to do what his father could not - run for President. We voted his father out, we can do the same for him. Let's drain the swamp and start with the biggest gator! VOTE!!
