Oh boy, here we go with the “I know somebody who died *because* they were wearing a seatbelt / survived *because* they were NOT wearing a seatbelt” testimonials. You want to maybe look up the statistics on automobile accidents and see how wearing seatbelts fits into the outcome of weather or not those involved lived or died? Is it possible that someone could die because of wearing a seatbelt and conversely be saved by not wearing one? Sure. It’s also possible for me to get struck by lightning and survive but the odds are most certainly not in favor of my survival.

Must be the government is running low on cash. Just an excuse to raise more in 'taxes'. And yes it is a personal liberty thing. An aunt was killed wearing seat belts and a brother was saved because he was not. This was the beginning of government taking more and more of our personal liberties away.

I'll never understand why so many people have such a hard time buckling up. It takes 3 seconds and it can save your life. Whats the problem? Does it infringe upon your "personal liberty"? The freedom to be an idiot I guess is every American's right.

Can't get police to take fingerprints from a recovered stolen car. They disregard people talking on cell phones or texting that they could easily ticket but let's crack down on seatbelts. Easy $$$$$$$$.

I understand the reason for the crackdown on cell phones. People talking while driving can hurt others besides themselves. But crack down on seat belts, although very important safety wise, does not makes sense to me. Is this a wise use of resources? Unless as crooksandliars state it is a money making thing?

I feel so much safer now, why not spend 2 weeks on crime prevention or solve some open cases and catch some real criminals? Oops i forgot you won't make any money doing that, besides its much easier writing grandma a ticket........
