And I would say just the opposite Beck. I've always admired the spirit in the Bemus Point community and have witnessed many displays of great sportsmanship. They've got some great teams and they are proud of them. What's wrong with that? I'm sure you feel the same about your school.

Bemus point people have way to high opinion of themselves and your school. Some of poorest displays of sportsmanship I have ever seen at high school athletic events.

Excuse my ignorance here, but I'm wondering a couple of things if someone could please help me understand:

Why does Bemus' school budget continue to increase each year, while the enrollment continues to drop year over year and classes/teachers are eliminated?

How does the teacher's union plan to fully fund retirement pensions the longer the program is in existence? Where does that extra money come from?

How much does the Supt. earn at a small district like Bemus, compared to say, Jamestown's Supt?

Just curious.

I got this great idea: in a sea of mediocrity and inertia ..I know, let's penalize the only bright spot in our County's educational system... wtf

abetterplan “This vote shows the people in this district want to oversee their school board's antics.” I find this an extremely unintelligent comment. Are not all school board meetings open for the public to attend? Are not all the dates posted online and the agendas for these meeting posted as well. And just in case your to lazy to get yourself away from your computer to attend these meeting aren’t the minutes of school board meetings posted afterwards. How much more “overseeing” would you want to do besides actually being involved and running for the board yourself. This leaves me to another question. I am not much invested in these school board meetings or budget votes. I do not live in the Bemus Point district nor did my own children go there but I am curious what these “Antics” are that you point out.

After reading about the amounts of these budgets, it is amazing to me that some of these small districts do not talk about merging or consolidating into less districts.

This vote shows the people in this district want to oversee their school board's antics. Bloated budgets and tax increases really stand out when neighboring school boards get it and Bemus Point doesn't. Take "some" fat out of your budget!!

Yep, no results, just #7 in WNY and #1 in the county. What a shame.
