The Village controls the police budget. The key now is to cut the budget until it becomes more equitable. Say back to 1 million or $500K for both village and town. The village has only itself to blame or letting police budget explode. Mayor Caprino gave them whatever they asked for years, add on top CSEA union demands, state pension mandates and it got way out of control. Time to rein LBPD back in. Area is way over policed with CCSD, NYSP, Ellicott PD, and JT PD all patrolling six square mile area along 394.

Sorry, I forget the village board has a new planner. He must a have a plan to freeze the police cost for the next five years. What a waste of my vote! He was a no show for his 1st meeting which is the annual budget meeting to go on vacation. Guess he did not think he would win. To top it off he shows up at the next meeting, votes yes on the budget with no comments. Guess he forget that he ran on not supporting budgets that are over the cost of living increase. Now the Planner voted yes to this agreement he is voting to increase our taxes for the next five years. The Planner does not care; see I learn to late that he does not even have property in the village. Guess he forget his supports pay taxes. So much for my vote.

Thank you for protecting the town, Mr. Robbins. Too bad you don’t care about the Village Voters. Five more years of supporting the town by increasing village taxes. At the end of five years the village is still in the hole. That alright, we can deal with this issue again after your election Mr. Robbins. I don’t think so, that’s when we should deal with this issue. MR. Robbins the village can also vote. I think you forgot that little matter, see your job is to protect the people of Busti which the village is a part of.

The key statement:

This total would be around 37% of the department current cost.

Factsout is regrettably wrong because this is great for Busti town taxpayers. Sounds as if Robbins and the town board did their homework and did not immediately cave to pressure from a prior village board that was all controlling. Ironic that with a new village board this sensible police was accepted by the village people finally. This is not Obama governing but instead good thinking in despising that the Busti board was being generous all the while continuing the excellent service of the Lakewood Busti Police Department. Good job and well done and all of Lakewood and Busting thank you!

I don't think this will be good for the Town Taxpayers. We should expect more police coverage if we are paying more. Exactly how much is this costing?

Approve a budget ....but not go into the details until a later date .....after taking almost two years to work out the details? Sounds like Obama type governing has reached the village level. FYI Wordleman was a democrate before he switched over.
