The policies of the Library are directed by the BOARD. That is why it's called the BOARD of DIRECTORS. Tom price needs to go and so does the management that went along with the Linda Fiasco.

Tina and Tom price worshiped the ground Linda walked and and the ONLY reason why Linda is not at Prendergast is because she upset the SYSTEM BOARD so much they said, "YOUR FIRED LINDA".

Now, they are saying, "YOUR FIRED TINA" because of the lack of real vision and leadership to take the system into the future.

On a side note... "What we're saying, basically, is running the library effectively is a huge job" Who are "we"????? is Tina just a pawn?

Actually, MarquessoQ, in general libraries are busier now than ever despite funding cuts. The good ones serve as community hubs and reference centers. Also, the Internet will not suffice to answer all reference questions. It depends on the topic and the detail needed. Furthermore, public libraries vary a lot by location and community, but they all try to meet the needs of their local community. A librarian from Alaska told me about the light machines they had available for checkout for their patrons at her library.

The sooner we can come to grips with the reality that libraries are going to be extinct - the better. The internet has taken away the need for reference materials, the Kindle is an eviro-friendly replacement for books, Movies can be rented for a couple of where does that leave the large facility that needs to be maintained, heated, cooled.STAFF...I can see a portion of the Prendergast remaining as a place to archive appropriate historical papers. These little libraries in communities are a real waste and they should be eliminated now. Like the Horse and Buggy structure of our local government we can easily drive from Lakewood, Falconer, Frewsburg to Jamestown.

I was a bit baffled by this decision too.

I agree that splitting the positions of head of CCLS and Prendergast was the correct decision. Running either is a huge job, and there is an inherent conflict of interest if you are in charge of one of the libraries in your system.

I am, however, incredibly unhappy with the decision to appoint Tina Scott as Prendergast's director. She was a vocal, active supporter of the debacle that was Linda Mielke, and many of her policies are in the same vein.
