May 9, 2013

To the Readers’ Forum: As one who believes that we must take action to limit gun violence while still preserving Second Amendment rights to allow good and decent people to possess firearms, the......

I agree--your group would much rather listen to "factual" reporting from -the junkie, Hannity, malkin, coulter, beck etc. And they were quite prominent in last November's election results.......

It's my humble opinion that the reference to "blood" on anyone's hands is inappropriate in this case, as it would be equally inappropriate based on military actions and or terrorist attacks in the past......

you are much to late--your "party" has made this a "political" issue, long ago, as soon as Hillary's popularity went thru the roof, and the fear of a presidential run became possible---same old, same old.

if this issue were reversed, you would be the first from your "group" screaming for "proof"--I repeat-if accurate, it is outrageous-----I'de like to know who made that statement and from what department, and for yours and 50's and fedup's satisfaction, if Hillary is responsible.

I certainly would not question a grieving mother, but I would like to see the "not part of the immediate family" quote from an official of the administration. If accurate, that is outrageous.

According to gio ...Hillary's statement was made up by Fox. Not only was the libya report scrubbed, now they want us to believe what we watched live never happened. It's just another of the vast right wing conspiracy against the Clinton dynasty.

well ya see lonrdr, I have become very skeptical of the use of sources and quotes on this and other topics by the righties on this forum--it's not a question of grammatical errors, it's a question of facts........but if that's not important to you sir, then please continue.

I have not read any responses. Hammer violence, car violence, physician malpractice violence on & on . SHEEPING OF AMERICA = not an option. 2A = perfect. STAND. Evil and the root should be sky high on the priority list.

I believe it is important to pay close attention to the use of quotation marks, when engaging in a dialogue, in this case, on gun violence. The 8;29pm, 5-11-13 post is a perfect example. The initial quote from the AP, is troubling, since there are no beginning quotation marks, and I doubt the subject matter consisted of merely one sentence..........

Before 1935 you could walk into a store, by a cigar, the kid some candy, and a silencer so your back yard shooting wouldn't bother the neighbors. Or you could buy a submachinegun. The kind of talk, movies and activity making scum millions today would have gotten their arses kicked and run out of town back then. There wouldn't have been a lawyer involved. Gun control isn't the problem.

Between 1993 and 2011, nonfatal gun crimes plummeted 69%; from 1.5 million to 467,300. Gun-related murders dropped 40%; from 18,253 to 11,101. Gun-related murders for black Americans plummeted by 51%.

The report also shows that the media-created hysteria over school shootings is wildly misleading. Between ’93 and ’11, the murder rate in schools dropped by almost a third; from 29 to 20.

Background checks have also been exposed as another bogus narrative the media’s crafted out of thin air. This report proves beyond any doubt that closing the so-called gun show loophole will accomplish next to nothing. Less than one-percent of state prisoners caught with a gun purchased it at a gun show. Moreover, who knows how many of those criminals might have passed or did pass a background check.

Just a copy and paste from an article about the Justice Dept Report in case some one missed it.

Don't you just love politics and trust the media. LOL

exactly--"NO." It wouldn't be worth it, even if it "saved a single life, possibly a child?"? That's why the dialogue must and will continue...........and it has nothing to do with your childish "winning and losing."

The author claims a poll showed a very great majority in favor of "extended background" checks. I was called by a pollster and I was asked if I approved of "background checks". I said Yes! but NOT for extended background checks. Also, almost all of the people in the news that cite a great majority of Americans for new and more restrictive laws always use the term "background checks". If all the provisions of the Senate bill were fully explained, I have absolutely no doubt the favorability would be a lot closer to 30%. THAT'S why the Senate only had 54 votes for a much-watered down bill.
