Lucky - the event was a Nationwide Insurance Tour event which is the PGA's version of the same tour in NASCAR. Lots of up & coming young talented golfers. The tour is now called the web**** tour. It was a PGA sanctioned tournament.

This was a great event for the area. Much of the sponsorship came from companies & corporations in the EriePa & WNY area. Many local charities benefited greatly from the donations made by the PGA, which is the governing body that handled the week long event. The prior owners mismanagement & delinquent payments to vendors is why the PGA pulled the event. In short, they were not able to keep the course up to PGA standards.

Are we not, according to a poll in Golf Digest, one of the country's top golfing destinations? We therefore should start a committee immediately to look into the possibility of bringing this prestigious tournament back to our beautiful county.

Im not a golfer but seems like the coverage by TV would have helped promote the area and since it was funded by private money, why not?
