This reminds me of post WWII communist Russia where if your neighbor was thought to be an enemy of the state, you were required to turn them in and testify against them. If you didn't, you were sent to the gulag to do manual labor. Just wait, soon they will say if you had knowledge of someone owning an illegal gun, you could be held liable.

PS sorry for the blank post. My thumbs are not cooperating this morning

Kudos to Mr. Piatz for a well-written letter. I would be very interested to hear our leading County Democratic office-holders weigh in on the SAFE Act. Their silence has been deafening.

The only thing the safe act does is perhaps keep us safe from having him as our president.

I'm all for having reasonable gun laws i.e. universal background checks, harsher penalties for committing a crime with a gun, keeping guns out of the hands of minors, those with criminal records or mental illness, but I agree that what NYS has instituted was not at all well thought out nor do I believe it will do anything to lessen gun related crime.

By the looks of recent articles in the P-J the Tip Line for drugs seems to be working fine. A law is a law so if you see something - say something!

Can I receive $500 for turning in practically every law enforcement officer and National Guardsman in the state or was that poorly planned part of the bill overturned?

if the "rats" portion is so upsetting, bruce, just ignore your neighbor, if you see him taking target practice with pressure cookers. Go for a jog........

"just ignore your neighbor, if you see him taking target practice with pressure cookers. Go for a jog"

This is a prime example of the mentality of those that support this law. "Target practice with a pressure cooker" just shows how uninformed those like giogump are.

I can see him now, peaking in his neighbor's windows looking for "illegal" guns. Since he is one of the takers, that $500 is worth being a rat. He'd better be careful though, someone might just use one of those "illegal" guns on him if he peaks in the wrong window.

And as far as your "business slow, bruce" post gio - at least he has a business and works for a living.

Pressure cookers are not illegal and not part of the bill and you will not receive 500 for reporting that so by all means.....jog away

now see dog--didn't you pay attention to laona's comments about "angry white man?" And please don't take out your frustration about your "job" on the rest of us. And your entire post lacked any degree of relevance on this issue--it's about bruce's letter to this forum--is that clear for ya?

if I see my neighbor not come to a complete stop at a stop sign, will I get 500 for turning them in? That is against the law and unsafe.

My biggest complaint is what happens when people just call the cops out of spite.Or say someone has something of value,,and a person calls the cops ,has the guy locked up ,gun taken away.He is now a soft easy target to be robbed or killed. i'm not saying jamestown .but look at the skinners in frewsburg , it does happen nowdays . In the bigger cities more so.People please use your heads. Remember police are there after a crime , not there to protect during one.Maybe the life your neighbor saves could be yours or your kids, mother, father.

This Un-SAFE Act is punitive toward law abiding citizens. Support the Recall bill effort being put forth in this state. 1st on the list to be recalled... "Andrew the Cuomo".

GioAllie, do you ever contribute a coherent opinion or do you think it is your specific duty to just criticize those who do not think like you? And, that isn't coherent, either.

mac--at last report we all--not just the Obama haters -have a right to our opinions and to respond to some of the hateful personal attacks from the child's blog.....my initial comments were directed at the author, and his personal agenda--not you or see dog.
