"However, more importantly, where are the bottles coming from?"

They come from the lake and the outlet. The Spring always does this; people shovel and plow snow into the lake and river and then when it thaws all the garbage that was buried in it appears.

I have lived by the river in the city for most of my life. There has always been garbage in it; always will be. It is no worse than it has ever been. Every time the creek floods down there it floods a huge stagnant basin. When it recedes, the garbage is left.

i've read an article & seen pictures over the last couple of years where volunteer crews actually clean up the chadakoin. the****is closed off so levels can drop extremely low then the crews go in & start picking up debris.

actually, to the author mr. chase & any other concerned citizen, contact the conewango creek watershed association for more information. & anybody looking to reread the article from september 9, 2012, just go up to the top right hand side of this page where it reads "news, blogs, & events. i am looking for ___________." this is where you can enter keywords to use in a search. in this instance, simply type in "volunteers come together for chadakoin river cleanup" & you'll be presented a link to the article.

Two years ago the Town of Ellicott received a $20K grant from the Bed Tax fund to clean up the Chadakoin at Levant ( just before it flows into the Cassadaga creek and by Quaint road) but they failed to do the work and lost the funding to another project.

Perhaps the writer has a physical impairment that prevents him from tackling the job. Be kind people! If not, then of course he should pitch in. However, more importantly, where are the bottles coming from? Folks who are truly lazy and ignorant.

I have a fence that needs painting...I am tired of looking at it.....can i get the BSA or vets or prisoners to paint it? Just because I am lazy, doesn't mean it should be left unpainted.

David: How much could YOU have cleaned up while you were instead writing a letter?
