Dark 77: Your the one that seems to have a chip on shoulder. I work for a private enterprise and my wages aren't paid by J-town property taxes or by the state government.J-town property taxes are some of the highest in NY state. That's a fact and much of the property tax money is used to pay teachers, principles, and school administrators. By the way, you stated that your wife makes 55k for 9 months of work. That's a very healthy salary for 9 months work Also what are your academic accomplishments Dark 77. Maybe you can answer without your sarcasm. By the way I'm looking at going back to school for a MBA

Dark 77:Enough with the sarcasm. that seems to be the way you answer someone that doesn't agree with your ideas. I have a Bachlors in Business Administration maintaining a 3.5 GPA . What are you academic achievements? You must be a teacher or administrator to defend these outrageous salaries and benefits. The salaries and benefits that are paid in the J-town schools are out of touch with the western ny economy. I'm hoping that J-town board brings in a aggressive cost cutting superintendent to get these salaries and benefits back in line . Have a good day Dark!!!!!!

Watcher try leaving Jamestown sometime and go to other parts of the country. Teachers in Erie county make 10 to 20 thousand more than jtown teachers...you need to get a clue or a college education....

DARK77.Duh?? That was brilliant comment on your part dark 77. The school pay system is completely out of step with the current economic climate in western NY and most of the country. A teacher making 50 -60 k for a 9 month job, paying principles 80k plus and administrators 100k is insane. This is in a poor city of 30k . This is opinion but I believe most of J- town residents would agree on this. Most of the personnel in the J- town school systems are over paid.

I have nothing against teachers or adminstrators making what they make. They are well educated and this is not an easy job or we all would be doing it. BUT, the pension plans and health benefits need to be more tin line with business today as municipalities simply canot afford these legacy costs. And by the way, that includes policeman and fireman.

So Joe DiMaio decided to with hold $656,000 in pension funding. This needs to be paid in the future but again the school board decides to KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD. Make the tough decisions

How about getting some back bone and have a 5% to 10% pay cut for all administrators and teachers.

You have teachers making 50K-60k for a 9 month job, principals making 80k plus, and administrators making a 100k in a city of 30k people.

This is how a business would be run!!!!!!

I am always leary about 'deferment" plans when it comes to things such as pension payments. It is either pay the piper now, or later. When later comes, there always seems to be other emergencies that require funds. I do notlike putting things such as this on "credit card". I would rather make the tough decisions now. Just my opinion.
