Loner, aren't you the Question Man today? Some of them sound remarkably like Mels'. Unfortunately for you I won't be answering any until Mel answer's mine.

Malematters,Troglodyte, You are both right on the money. This article was a lot of hooey. It's a shame that these organization don't have the new, fresh young leadership that they need. We are still singing the same old worn out songs that do not fit the times.

Here is just one of many reasons women average lower pay than men while receiving the same rate of pay:

“In 2011, 22% of male physicians and 44% of female physicians worked less than full time, up from 7% of men and 29% of women from Cejka’s 2005 survey.” ama-assn****/amednews/2012/03/26/bil10326.htm

Mind you, these are some of the most sophisticated, educated women in the country CHOOSING to earn less than their male counterparts in the exact same profession.

A thousand laws won't close that gap.

In fact, no law yet has closed the gender wage gap.

See why:

Loner, you are being a drama queen again. Mel is on here telling people how to run their lives and being a "man of the cloth" has no relevance here. Our community's legitimate clergy are not here posting, they have better things to do. Why doesn't Mel?

Loner, are you just here to attack other posters? It would be nice if you addressed the issue and dropped the rage. Big boy manners please.

I say we cut their wages back down. Businesses are feeling the crunch - CEOs can afford yachts this year.

So paying women less is fine with Norm as long as the business owner is successful. That is the same logic that says shipping jobs overseas is a good thing because the business owners are successful.

Conservatives would say: don't get mad; get rich. Liberals prefer: get sympathy and take control. If you believe malicious discrimination is the main reason for average pay inequality, start a business. Hire only women. Split the difference between women's average pay and the overall average. Your employees would be better off than other women and you could undersell the competition. Seeing your success, others would follow. Ultimately the problem would magically vanish but no fun or grandstanding for you.
