There are way too many school districts for our small county with the declining population.

The declining enrollment is WNY, Mid-West NY and Syracuse area, Utica area, northern NY sorta stable (but high unemployment to begin with) then we get to Albany and south. No declining enrollment, NYC no declining enrollment, Long Island no declining enrollment, WHY? J O B S they have them we don't. People do not stay and cannot stay where jobs are not, can't give themselves or their families the necessities of life. We have two economies in NYS, one is expanding and actually growing: Albany south to Long Island and ROS-rest of state IS NOT! Do you see a change coming forth, in that case its mergers and fewer school districts. No reason for more districts when the school age population is shrinking. Where do your kids and grandchildren live?

Carlaw, maybe you haven't heard. NYS education dept is eliminating a play time from the kindergarten programs. Now you will have 5 year old kids studying all day.

Carlaw, apparently you don't understand what extra-curricular activities do for students. The idea of keeping sports, music and drama programs is to keep children off the streets.
