March 27, 2013

ALBANY — A hike in New York’s minimum wage is a big win for Democrats, but a provision buried inside the tentative state budget shows taxpayers will be paying much of the bill....

I know if my employer was to replace me with a student[actually their saying a minority,or an illegal immigrant]in the machine trades that machine would never operate again,I would make sure of it!! If i were a maintenance employee all electrical drawings would disappear, along with any notes, revisions, etc. Just see how far your 2808.00 goes in fixing every thing that gets sabotaged because of your greed, and being so short sighted. If i were to stay with this employer i would not give anything iv'e learned to anybody! The one thing they can't take from you is your experience,or your education, and they would pay me dearly to obtain it!! Take that back to Andy Stalin!! He's nothing more than a festering puss sack on the back side of a maggot!!!!!!!

Really, our government is so jacked. Why not skip the tax payer input and save the 1.35?! I mean seriously. It's going to come out again anyway!

"Minimum wage was never meant to be an actual living wage."

Wish that were the case today, but it's not, unfortunately.

khulumzurug - so you'd rather carlaw moved out of state and spent her retirement there instead? That's a loose-loose situation then. NYS would rather she stay here with her money, thus the break.

Minimum wage was never meant to be an actual living wage. It is for starter jobs like my first job at Super Duper in Lakewood in 1967. I was in high school and was allowed to work up o 21 hrs a week. It taught me how to budget my time and the spending money I made... those were the days!

Hey Billy, I'm sorry you didn't like school and dropped out. I'm sorry you robbed that liquor store and got a record. I'm sorry that you can only get a minimum wage job. But don't you worry, we're giving you a raise courtesy of John Q. Taxpayer who finished school, got a job, raised a family and sent the kids to college. No problem.

How stupid and sad!! Just one more reason for term limits, a part time legislature(less time to screw up) or better yet a new state of western NY. Who does it not hurt? Retired NYS employees who pay no state tax on their retirement pay!

Everything this government does is in pursuit of higher corporate profits. Where are the cries of "Marxism!"

What the heck! Now we are promoting minimum wage jobs!?!?! Why wouldn't an employer get rid of higher paying jobs for this incredible deal?

Looks like the taxpayers get the shaft from both ends on this one. First by subsidizing the higher wages, then by paying higher prices for goods due to the higher wages. Way to go NYS. Making sure we keep our #1 status as the most unfriendly state to do business.

Why does the state have to subsidize companies for wages paid to employees? Thats insane. Company profits continue to rise and standard of livings continue to decline. Something is not right here.

Once again the working poor get the shaft and probably don't even know it. They will keep voting for Cuomo and Sheldon Silver etc. They are all slaves on the Cuomo Plantation. How long are New Yorkers willing to subsidize this inhumanity? Call your representatives.

Totally unbelievable! Give employers yet more incentive to terminate existing employees. Pure genius, NOT!
