correction--lonerider--St. James did serve meals years ago -however that was discontinued and replaced by St. Susans. Our church members serve on the board and volunteer their time to the center.

Post it here, Mel. What services do you provide? Anything to help the women whom you want to deny abortions? Anything for the poor. ESL classes? How about those 40 meals-on-wheels?

Monkey, come on over to Kiantone Congregational and I'll hand you the annual report which gives the details you seek on what church's gives to community organizations.

After a quick phone call--St. Susan's[St. James R.C.] is the only church sponsored meal program in the area--there are several "food pantries"[ Salvation Army]--but none supply meals for the needy. Please correct me.........

to this point, I believe St. Susan's has been the only church sponsored food program--are there others?

Mel, why doesn't your church start providing the 40 meals-on-wheels that have been cut from the budget? Don't you profess to believe that the government shouldn't be taking our money and deciding who deserves help and that charity should be handled locally, by churches, for example?

Still hiding behind questions I see, Mel. What are you so afraid of? Just answer and tell us what you and your church contribute to the community.

Monkey, all you haver to do is answer a question posed to before you asked me the one you want answered, how is your judging pople as bigots, intolerant and homophobic consistent with your version of liberal Christianity which keeps telling other people not to judge? How did you have time yesterday to comment on this blog on Sunday when there are lot of sick people, hungry people, lonely people whom you could have seen?

Loner, grow up. All Mel has to do is answer my questions. It's very simple. I will keep asking until he does.

Poor Mel. Loner feels bad for you. Mel is on here constantly passing judgement (God's job description) yet he does nothing for the community. Does his church have a food pantry, soup kitchen, daycare center or any community services? Did his church pick up the slack and start making the 40 meals-on-wheels that were cut from the budget? He was on this website on Easter Sunday. Must be there are no sick or shut-ins that needed a visit.

Mel, why are you so terrified to answer my question? If you do anything for the community, just tell us. I wouldn't think someone who believes they have the right to judge everyone would have a fear of being judged themselves. If you believe you are an asset rather than a detriment to our community tell us what good works you do. Hint- Tea Party membership doesn't count.

really mel--I'm not a man of the cloth --you are. I can only look at your comments and give my opinion--and that opinion is and has been based on your track record that you are unable to separate your political bias, from your theology-I may very well be dead wrong, but that is my position. God bless.....

Gio, with all due respect, I really beginning to think that you cannot even distinguish between what is liberal theologically and what is liberal politically. Bringing up the Falwells is not a political issue per se. What does merely bringing up a name with a label attached to them mean? That would be like me just saying the name of left-wing minister Jim Wallis. Simply saying his name says little in fact about liberal politics or even theology. Maybe he might be a key for you. What makes a Jim Wallis politically left wing and what can you say about his theology to show whether it is lilberal or conservative?

Monkey, when you say, "This would be the perfect opportunity for Mel to prove me wrong. All he has to do is tell us what he does for the community," this would be the perfect opportunity for you to say how your judging others to homophobic, bigoted and intolerant is consistent with your version of liberal Christianity which tells others not to judge.
