It sounds like the teen who earned his eagle badge is the one being bullied, give him his award!

He never should have gotten that far. If they had their way, they would force churches to stop preaching the part of the Bible that says homosexual acts are abominable. Watch the next steps. It will get worse. If I had my way, they wouldn't let them adopt kids either.

Are you kidding. Bullied, the only bullying going on is by BSA with Eagle Scout candidates being denied becoming an Eagle Scout. 50's your neither enlightened nor an American, you don't believe in freedom what you believe in is a free white man's America-so the rest of us are excluded. In 2013 as a nation and people we have determined the damages your ilk have inflicted upon us have been so vile you have nothing to offer a nation of free people. FREEDOM & DEMOCRACRY is the hallmark of this nation not your reviled religious beliefs from someone who doesn't know Jesus.

If the Boy Scouts receive even $0.01 of Government funding, then their religion-based bullying of gays needs checked at the door.

"We shouldn't be forced to affirm false values we don't hold."

I agree. Like people trying to force their narrow-minded religious beleifs on everyone else.

I'm from the Heterosexual Rights group and I'm tired of being bullied by the gay rights group !! Go ahead be gay but don't force others to accept it if they choose not to! Find an organization that accepts gays.

If you don't like the standards of the organization, don't join it. Nobody is forcing their religion on you. It's typical now such as demanding a Christian organiation allow atheists to hold office. Go to a mosque and insist on being allowed in shoes and all. Oh yeah, and tell them you are gay. That will get you out of our hair.

My question is, who is this Boyscout leader who let this kid do all the work to get to this point and then yanks the rug out from underneath all of his accomplishments? Why punish a kid who works hard for something he wants, and believes in, just because he's gay. He's a freakin kid!

I'd agree maddog, but rules are rules. Better to have them changed if they don't go by them. One scout master shouldn't be setting a precedent. If they change it would save the scouts from going prowling for girls. They'd be right handy. Maybe they cold hit up NAMBLA for donations.

it is retarded that this is even an issue. As rev. Mel often says: Leave the Gay people alone...

I can somewhat understand not allowing homosexual leaders, when a child starts out in the organization, as a tiger cub, they are like 5 or 6. They are supposed to know then that they are gay and shouldn't be a member? Seeing as how they may not know for a half dozen years or more, should they have to quit as soon as they realize it? Just seems a little extreme and irrational. Trust me, I definitely align more to right wing standards but this seems ridiculous. So if a kid is in your church, his family has been attending for generations, and the kid realizes they are gay, they should no longer be allowed to attend? They shouldn't be allowed to be confirmed? or any other right a religion may have?

It is really sad that in the year 2013 there are still people that don't accept homosexuality. This stupid letter was written by a so called "Pastor" and all these Christian wackos don't seem to get it. If they were really Christian they would love and accept everybody no matter what there race, religion or sexual orientation. I am Catholic and faithfully practice my religion but I have enough of a brain in my head to know that God loves all of us no matter what our sexual orientation is. It is not like being gay is a choice because if it was who would choose to be gay. Nobody would choose to be ridiculed, demonized and have their rights taken away. I am ashamed that the Post Journal put this hate letter in the paper.

Logical maddog.. But lkie I said, change the rules or follow them. I believe one of the cases was a scoutmaster who had been around a while. Yeah, this kid got the short end of the stick.

Jeff Short has been pastor of CrossPointe Church in Jamestown, New York for five years. He holds degrees from Wheaton College (B.A., Philosophy), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (MDiv.) and Fuller Theological Seminary (DMin.). Jeff has served at churches in Illinois and Colorado also. He is single, plays guitar, loves reading and writing.

Apparently it takes a lot of schooling to learn how to hate this much. Based on the last line...might be the pot calling the kettle black.

50 your sick! all of those that agree with you are fools.

A child at the young age of 7 (earliest age of joining cub scouts) has no ideas what their "sexual orientation" is going to be.

Shame on you for feeling like you can "punish a child" because they have realized that they maybe homosexual!

I am glad this letter writer has identified themselves as a pastor. It gives me another reason that "organized" religion is wrong!

For those that feel that "you are being bullied by gay rights", Think before you speak. True, what happens behind closed doors is No Ones business, but gays should not have to be ashame of being with their life partner in public. This is no different than living with someone.

If you are going to be upset with the gay community, than you should also attack your neighbors that are not married.

Hey 50s4ever, your name obviously shows that you are not open to change. Just because it is a rule does not mean that it is right. Slavery was a law as well until people realized it was wrong and changed it.

I just love how sweet you people are. No matter what is said, you read something into it that isn't there. I KNEW slavery would pop up immediately. Boy you people have been brainwashed by your modern school of thought. Or should I say, no thought but the government thought? It seems the in thing to do now, badmouth the past. Who do you think gave you everything you now have including the opportunity to change what you feel is wrong? Duhhh?

XJTownres, Excellent commentary!

Maddog80, for a 'right winger' you make some sense. However, I cringe at the thought of what you may mean by "I can somewhat understand not allowing homosexual leaders..."

What I meant Howie, is that if being gay is "against the rules" in the BSA, it should only apply to the adults in the organization, not the children. That's as far left as you are going to get me on this topic...sorry.
