If the public schools continue to send their teams to play the private schools to get their heads handed to them they are perpetuating the problem. Why not just stop playing them. It's a shame to see a good public school have a great season record get ruined by a 40 point loss to a private school. But if they continue to play the private schools they get crushed. So, if Section 6 doesn't participate in state tourneys, maybe they could be a trend setter. I'd rather be able to say I was the Section 6 champion than say I got my brains beat in by Section 5.

If u think section six teams get annoyed with this, imagine how the public section five teams feel when their best athletes end up disappearing to the privates from year to year. At least we don't have that in our section as much. All the more amazing when a section six team wins a state title against these odds. People don't realize how hard it is.

Allowing private schools to participate in the New York State PUBLIC High School Athletic Association championships is par for the course in NYS. Look at the way they are determining the classifications when multiple schools form one team. Total student population should drive the classification.
