Ex-Boss: Rampage Suspect Was 'Spooky' RecentlyMarch 14, 2013HERKIMER — Police SWAT teams navigated a cluttered, abandoned bar to find the suspect in four fatal shootings holed up in a small room, killing him in a shootout early Thursday with officers after a...... Showing 20 of 20 comments

I have always given DanFal for more intelligence then he has shown with the comments in here. I don't care if it was a dog he killed along with the others, that dog was still a cop. You kill a cop in NYS and you are subject to the death penalty, he just got his sentence served without wasting taxpayers money on a log drawn out trial. This needs to happen more often in cases of killing someone. Don't like try a more socialist environment. Or call someone who cares.

According to the police, this guy had hidden himself away in a small room in the building. They figure that's how he managed to escape the effects of the gas which they applied several times. As the police began to enter the building yesterday morning he suddenly flung the door to the small room open and began to fire, killing the police dog. The officers returned fire, killing the subject. I suppose that they just could have sat in the situation for a month or so; after a week or ten days the stench of a rotting corpse would have told them that he'd off't himself. But then again, who's to say that he might not have had a year's worth of MRE's and water stacked up in there? For how long do you lock down the business section of a small town? At some point there has to be a judgement call made as to when to pull the pin and move.

Really, being "kind, caring and intelligent" now involves feeling sorry for a murderer who got what he deserved? Give me a break!!

I love the Post Journal because the readership seems to be so kind, caring and intelligent.

Hey, DanFal, this murderer who engaged the police in a gun fight and got killed, just got his due process. By all accounts, the police followed section 35 of the New York state penal law perfectly!

DanFal, How's this: "Oh, and DanFal - what due process did this savage's victims have, or doesn't that matter to you and your bleeding heart"?
Would you care about his due process if that was a relative of yours he blew away? What about the drone question DANFAL? If Obama deemed the suspect an enemy, and put a missile up his butt, would you still be crying about due process?

I noted that Prince Andy of Albany quickly showed up in Herkimer yesterday. I can't figure out if he was there to provide some personal tactical assistance, or simply to make the police a loan of that Model 1100 shotgun that he talks about so much.

Looks like the shooter took Joe Biden's advice. Arrest Joe Biden.

@ Seadog- first the name is not Dabfal. The very fact that you cannot copy correctly six easy letters tells me you are not even worth replying to. Do you even have a GED?

"Guilty or not, he did not receive due process under the law"
WHAAAAA cry me a river. In a basement armed to the reeth, shoots a police dog, gets blown away and you're worried about due process. Hey, the cops could have used one of Obama's drones - would that make it better for you?

This is the first and only time that I have to agree with Khulumzurug. But I disagree with the article when it says that no officers were injured. The police dog that was shot and killed was as much an officer as the human ones. The Canine cops are a valuable asset to any Police force and should be honored as such.

You are mistaken, he received due process under the law. The police were there to arrest him, they sent the dog first, because he was armed and dangerous, and gave him a chance to surrender himself. He instead opened fire, and died while resisting arrest.

Guilty or not, he did not receive due process under the law. Is this whole country going to be run as an eye for an eye. Soon we will all be blind.

Sounds like a story from a Clint Eastwood movie. Ban Clint Eastwood movies!
Makes as much sense as anti-gun laws.
