March 14, 2013

To The Readers Forum: I read with interest the February 28, Jamestown Post-Journal Associated Press report on Governor Cuomo exempting television and movie use of “assault-type” weapons....

I confess. I watched Bronson, Eastwood and the Duke take out the trash and loved it. The wild bunch was my role model for immigration reform. "Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie" Cuomo?

"Governor Cuomo, if you are going to have the testicular fortitude to ban these weapons, violate our Second Amendment rights, and jeopardize hundreds of manufacturing jobs in New York State, have the guts to tell these right wing movie moguls NO." Aside from the wrong wing, excellent letter and I couldn't agree more! An 8-15 year old, has a distorted view of reality and when movies and video games show such disregard for human life. It becomes the norm to these kids. Obviously, the movies can be entertaining and the video games are fun but it comes back to a lack of parenting. Don't let your impressionable kids watch/play these things until they are old enough to really understand that it is a fantasy world. I know plenty of people that wait in line at walmart at midnight to get the next call of duty game for their 10 year old kid. No wonder school loses its importance. How often is that parent up til midnight studying or reviewing homework with that same kid? Values are bac

"I sure hope he meant the far left wing on this because it sure is not the conservatives that want this garbage."

Yeah, like those far left wing nuts like Eastwood, the Duke, Arnold and Chuck Norris?

The left wing movie moguls are the ones the Dems depend on for their campaign contributions so Cuomo is not about to tick them off. Gun control is just another version of people control and NY has some of the best versions of politicians wanting to control every aspect of your lives probably second only to California.

As long as they are right, they're right. You got a problem with the good guys winning?

Maddog I couldn't agree more. I'll date myself, I grew up watching Tom and Jerry, Roadrunner the Wylie, Forghorn leghorn, and many other cartoons. They were all hit in the head/face with frying pans, blow-up, charred beyond recognition, but our parents were there. And I never thought I could smash my brother int he face with a frying pan, and blow his thumb and he would be back to normal. It is the PARENTS step up and do the right thing. Don't by the games if killing is the only way to win a game.

2010-the differnce is we were emulating Gene and Roy who were the good guys beyond doubt. They didn't slaughter dozens in slow motion, with lord knows what kind of weapon. As you say, we knew cartoon creatures were not ruled by the same realities humans are. I have to admit to some suspiciously hi-capacity six guns back in the day...but not mass killing.

Rider, you are right. How pathetic are they that they cannot handle an opposing view of one of their Fearless Leaders. Are they ashamed that he is exploiting a tragedy to further his political career? I'm glad that they value their rights, you know, all of those that they stretch the constitution to cover, yet they want to deny both my 1st and 2nd amendment rights, both of which are specifically spelled out. Hypocrites! Truly pathetic.

I find it amusing to read the angry conservatives attempts to correct the record. The author was quite clear in his description of clint-empty chair- eastwood and the rest of the right wing nuts in hollywood. The author was "right" on.

Gio....what is your take on the author's statement about the governor? Not about the right wing vs. left wing, but your honest opinion about the fact that he is allowing movies that glorify violence and assault weapons to be filmed in his state?

Did I miss an Eastwood mass murder w/assault weapon movie ali? The most offensive popular movie violence was Scarface. Godfather plus was a lesson in failed immigration also.

Here is a list of top 31 movies that glorify violence and their directors....I didn't see clint eastwood on there as a director. It seems that all of the directors listed are liberals. ht tp :// mubi . co m/lists/glorifying-violence

pure coincidence that an actor & director who also happens to endorse the NRA is named...

but rappers like ludacris, jay-z, puffy combs, & nas, whose songs & videos often portray misogynistic views as well as firearm violence, use guns as props & oftentimes embrace guns, get no mention.

why no mention of hollywood actors like jamie foxx & denzel washington? both big BHO backers, both made millions off of hollywood gun violence.

no mention of those "hollywood moguls."

but how typical, considering the (terrible) source.

someone mentioned a "list" of violent movies, and producer -director-actor eastwood was not on?--"Gran Torino[2008]Rated -R, nonstop profanity and racial epithets, strong VIOLENCE including implied rape, alcohol use, adult themes." In film, eastwood[actor] "storms off his porch with a shotgun, and yells get off my lawn." There are lists and then there are lists.

Gio since you are so into technicalities, I never said Eastwood didn't direct violent movies, I simply said he wasn't on the list I found. Did you see his name on that list gio?? Nope simply putting words in people's mouths and/or lying per usual. I would like to see the "list" you are referring to.
