Cuomo figured that the entire state was filled with enough blind-faith liberal Democrats that he could trample our rights and get away with it. He figured that fear-mongering would overshadow his abuse of power. He was wrong. People of both parties are calling him out on this shameful, politically motivated action.

The problem is this law will never be repealed unless forced to by the courts. What the individuals who choose to name call, threaten, and whine about this law should have done is acted in a reasonable manner and try to get amendments to the law such as the 7 round magazine. Instead they have choosen to claim their 2nd amendment rights have been violated. Do they even know what the 2nd amendment states? And if their rights have been violated, how are they still able to own fire arms. This group needs a calm voice to speak and represent them in changing certain parts of this law. You will get more done that way.

I like the idea of revisiting the 7 magazine limit. Lets drop it down to 5 or less for my safety and arrest anyone with larger capacity. Now, instead of bashing this statement, answer the following question....Why do you need large capacity weapons?

The fact of the matter is that it is a direct infringement in our rights. Period. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting or sporting use, it was written to be able to protect against the government overstepping their boundries. Now if we could only get this liberal pile of a newspaper to publish information like this it would help to open the eyes of all the koolaid drinkers that we have around here.

PleaseWakeUp, I'm not going to argue with you as to when people will be taking a forceful stand against the actions of our government. Just wait until next January when they supposedly expect people to "register" their semi auto sporting rifles. It's none of the states business what people own. Period. There will be mass civil non-compliance, and there will be those who defend their rights by force. Feel free to believe that people will just roll over and accept this garbage law, because it simply wont happen. I feel sorry for the officers that will decide to enforce it.

WOW - drop it down to 5 or less for "your safety? How is that going to make you any safer PWU? What about my family's safety if two or three pukes kick in my door? 5 or less might not do the job if I miss with the first two, so I'd like at least 10. By the way, how many rounds to Obama's protective detail carry?

Hey ruffer, You have a voice, but shame on us anti- automatic gun folks for having an opinion. Sorry to say, but in the real world (outside of rural ny), there is a majority that agree with changes to the system.

"anti- automatic gun folks for having an opinion"

Perhaps if you knew what you were talking about, you'd be taken seriously. Auto-matic weapons lol.

"drop it down to 5 or less for "your safety?

How is that going to make you any safer PWU"?

And finally, "but in the real world (outside of rural ny), there is a majority that agree with changes to the system"

Again, your lack of knowledge is astounding - a majority of the counties in NYS have come out against the Cuomo law.

Just because you rural folks enjoy your "SEMI-AUTOMATIC GUNS" doesn't mean everybody does. Why don't you go take your guns and defend your 2nd amendment rights!

23rd Congressional District poll shows broad support for universal background check

"A poll of 400 likely voters in the 23rd Congressional District shows overwhelming support for background checks for all gun buyers.

The poll, commissioned by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, targeted the 23rd Congressional District represented by Rep. Tom, Reed, R-Corning, and the 19th Congressional District in New York. In all, 41 congressional districts in 21 states were surveyed for the poll

It found 94 percent of those responding favored universal background checks for gun sales in New York’s 23rd Congressional District. The Schoen LLC poll was conducted Feb. 2 through 6 of 400 voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Two-thirds of those polled said they favored stronger gun violence prevention laws to keep firearms out of the wrong hands, while 25 percent of the respondents were opposed.

Of the respondents, 43 percent said they owned a gun and 13 percent replied someone in their household owned a gun. There were 16 percent who said they were members of the National Rifle Association.

Rep. Reed, a strong Second Amendment supporter, favors a strong mental health component in any federal gun control legislation. After the Sandy Hook Elementary School killings in Newtown, Conn., in December, Rep. Reed urged Congress not to rush to pass new gun control legislation and to reject legislation that was an emotional response to the shootings."

BUTTE , MONTANA Shotgun preteen vs. Illegal alien Home Invaders..."Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11-year-old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay-shooting champion since she was nine.Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12-gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee-crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals. When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the ...street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive"

" It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45-caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David 0'Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news.......".?

"An 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants.......and she wins. She is still alive. Now THAT is Gun Control"

Thought for the day.... Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist. American citizens defending themselves and their homes.
