I would like to see rail passenger service from Cleveland accross southern NY to Norwich and up to Utica then on the new 110mph track to Albany. There one could connect to many major cities of New England. Like Springfield-Worcester-Boston and even on to Portland, Maine. I'm sure a daylight train would sell out just like the "Maple Leaf" and the "Lake Shore Limited" do sometimes.

Sounds like a great project. Which will bring people into the city. I've been there three times to see and enjoy the building. Only once from the inside. I'll be back again too. Buses are a good start, but a train would really do it. Coupled with special events. Does Jamestown have a farmers market? This could be a good place for it. There's all kinds of things that can be done. It makes Jamestown special. I agree with Reneldo.I also want to add, with the air service disappearing someday the trains will be back. Amtrak is very popular and most long distance trains like the ones that stopped at Jamestown. Run sold out alot today.

So Lee will ride that white elephant until he retires. Nice. A few sticks of dynamite and the loader could have filled a few dozen dump trucks to cart that relic off to some hole in the ground way cheaper than it cost to replace all that imported marble. Oh, it was and is funded by tax dollars, even Federal money comes out of our pockets. The deed is done. We have a party palace with no parking on a one-way street that is built on a gorge cliff. Good luck making that place an economic engine for Jamestown. This city needs a plan B for when no one is left who remembers or cares about that dead comedian Lucy.

During late 90's several thousand Latinos were brought here from N.Y.C. with the promise of train transportation to N.Y.C.The truth about why there were millions put into train station. They brought here to fill the slum lords apartments and fill exodus of working populous ,plus cheaper New York to have them on welfare in this county then N.Y.C. . truth on train station.

Why is it I'm reminded of the words of Ben Franklin when I read this forum? "Any fool can criticize condemn and complain, and most fools do."

Why on earth would anyone be against a national hall of fame of any kind in our city? I don't get it. You complain that there is nothing in Jamestown and it's being over run by public assistance recipients. And then you complain when people engage creative ideas to revitalize and grow our economy.

Lucy overdone? Didn't I Love Lucy win the #1 spot in ABC' best tv shows of all time? So why wouldn't Jamestown want to capitalize on its most famous resident, an American icon who continues to be loved worldwide.

Eleanor Roosevelt was right. You're*******if you do and*******if you don't.

lee is full of bull.they spent all this money on saving this building and now they are grasping at straws trying to find a use for it. what a waste of tax dollars let lee retire to randolph!

Shouldn't all of this have been thought out before the money was spent. Then again it is the governments money so there is no need to thing of what you are going to do after you are done.

The train station needs to be part of the planned waterfront development going on behind it.

I couldn't agree more with you NYGLADIATOR. I for one am sick and tired of all the waste of money spent on studies. Is everyone in elected office here that dumb or just scared to have there fingerprints on it.

I also agree with the earlier post...this town has exhausted LUCY LUCY LUCY! Have the comedy museum at the Lucy center and keep trains or historical groups where they the train station!

Yeah sure, why not another study! Why do elected officials and administrators constantly seek an "independent study?" Seems to me that people in the city administration are put there to make executive decisions, but they always are affraid to do anything or act without some study...that ends up costing tons of money! Grow a pair and make decisions on your own...that's why you apparently were given the job in the first place to do.

There already is a Gateway Center in Jamestown. Why couldn't they name be something different and unique to trains and railways.

I've been to a few events @ the train station and the accoustics are awful. You can't have a conversation with a person 2 feet away. Host an event there is a bad idea, unless it is a mime workshop.

The train station is ironically located next the the Arena. The Arena is another "center city" waste of money due to poor vision, planning, and management.

The National Comedy Hall of Fame is a great idea and the money spent on the train station and Arena would have a greater return and impact on Jamestown on the local economy.

We may not have the wealthiest zip code, but better is that I love the enthusiasm of most of the area people. Go with it Lee and use your positive power. Prayers are with you for success.

I support the Train Station as a destination but not as a Comedy Museum. Whether the renovation may or may not have been worth the time and money is a moot point now. It's been renovated, it's a great asset so lets figure out a way to capitalize on it. I've got a few ideas and will contact Lee, anyone else?....

Everyone gripes about developments in our region that are funded, primarly if not entirely, by State or Federal prgrams. If you believe there should not be programs or Federal or State money available for projects like this than do something about it by voting for people who seem more fiscally responsilbe and might cut or change the funding avialabe. Unitl then be grateful we were able to get the money here to add some construction jobs and enhance our community.

I see the train station as a major success, especially when you consider that roughly the same amount of money used to rehab it would have been required to demolish it and stabilize the bankment. Seems this station has endless possibilities and it is a huge addition to downtown and will help further downtown biz. And I love the passion that Lee Harkness has for Jamestown. It seems there is a handfull of hard-working, dedicated people supporting a city loaded with able people who contribute little to nothing.

and that is one reason the Jamestown does not appear in the Top 50 wealthiest Zip Codes of WNY. ***********bizjournals****/buffalo/news/2013/02/27/what-are-wnys-richest-zip-codes.html?ana=RSS&s=article_search&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bizj_buffalo+%28Business+First+of+Buffalo%29
