The question which must be ask, is why the Sheriff was permitted to dump $2.6 million into a junk system? This failure does not indicate that an additional $6 million Taxpayer's monies will not now be wasted, again! It all comes from the same pockets folks, yours not theirs!

Look at all the money the Sheriff has wasted on the county communication upgrade efforts over the last 10 years "crying the sky is falling" every year and expanding this budget line item. Now he wants a Pat on the back for bringing pork back from DC. Why not print he whole story about how much local tax dollars have been wastefully spent on this effort before asking for applause.

Whatever monies were wasted is water under the bridge. This grant came from the stimulus money. The republicans are praising glory that they have the new system. Now ask them about the stimulus and see what they have to say. There is a word for that but I am in too good of a mood this morning. Most of the news today is good for a change!

I believe that the Sheriff's office has to upgrade to be FCC compliant.

Hate the term "water under the bridge" . When it comes to paying for all this stimulus Obama will say it has already been spent and is now water under he bridge... now just open your wallets and pay for it ....suckers.

no prob.... now all the policemen can grab some tunes in their police vehicles. I do not want to change the black and white.. I just think Sheriff Gerace should paint Yin/Yang love symbols on the cars

The Sheriff's Office worked hard putting together the 100-page grant application. They should be commended for making its pitch and succeeding. It never cease to amaze me that we need to commend public service employees for doing their job. Congratulations, your competent! In the private sector, it is called keeping your job.

With Joe taking all this Federal money lately...he really should step down as a Elected Politician Sheriff, or give up his career as an officer because according to the Hatch Act. Ne can't be both. He is breaking federal law now and somebody should call him out on it. FBI? There is a reason NY Sheriff association is tring to get exemption form this law...it hits too close to home fo them.
