I have started a group in the Wall Street Journal, dedicated to Crowd Funding. This idea came about because of the brakes Roosevelt put on public funding. In creating the SEC, Kennedy not only destroyed the criminal's path to raise money, but he also closed it forever to the little guy. As a doctoral student in Business, I want to return that right to the everyday citizen. This requires finding a way to limit and share risk. It seems that the Internet, now consisting of 2 billion people is a great way to share and limit risk through public finance. What the world is waiting for is the law that President Obama signed, mandating the SEC to produce such rules as to make feasible such ideas. The SEC due date was something like January 17, 2013. Nothing has publically materialized. Does anyone out their know anything. Please feel free to email me at tssstein63@gmail****, or through the WSJ blog, titled Crowd Funding. This is not an attempt to raise funding, just feedback!

LindaD...I believe Birder's comments were that if we paid less in taxes, we would be able to donate more money to these groups.

I love the birder's "logic": less tax monies mean more funding and cutting public funding will give 4-H more money in the long run.

The community turn out was great! As someone who grew up in 4-H, and now the mother of a 4-Her, I would like to thatnk everyone for their support. 4-H is about more than just raising animals. It has a lot of programs to offer that help children to learn about social responsibility, and how to be a leader among their peers. I have used many of the skills I learned in 4-H as an adult, and I hope that in 20 years my daughters can say the same.

Congrats to all of you. If we paid less tax we could fund a lot more things like this. And in the long run they will probably have more money.
