And it would only be the "true meaning" you've chosen to pick. Many of us choose not to feed into the religious/marketing mambo jumbo. Ours do NOT go to church, nor do we celebrate Easter.

Also kinda stupid to say I was the first one to respond since I posed the question. Remember what I said about rhetorical comments....????

And LOL right back to you. Why not YOU reread what I said. I never made any mention of YOUR kids.

LOL!!! I never ever said in my previous comment that MY kids were the ones thinking Easter was about bunnies and baskets (reread please). In fact, my kids have been taught the true meaning of Easter since they were able to comprehend things like that. My kids attend church on a weekly basis, not just on Christmas and Easter (not that going to church makes you a Christian because that is NOT the case!!) I also know that care packages are sent at other times of the year, not just Christmas and Easter. I think facts need to be checked before slinging mud. I don't think the soldiers that receive care packages from home really care what "date" they are sent or received. In regards to you wanting to see "what kind of lunacy would respond", you were the 1st one to respond so what's that say??

Wait...Protect country from what exactly? There are too many countries fighting with each other, why would we need protecting from this? We should have taken our noses out of everyone else's rears when Saddam went down and then when bin Laden supposedly went down.

First, if kids think it's all about rabbits and candy, then this is the kind of idiocy you support. Can we have one holiday without some kind of fantasy behind it? Secondly, the 4th of July to me is certainly more patriotic than some holiday that many people don't celebrate. Lastly, I wanted to see what kind of lunacy would respond to this...I believe if we can have rhetorical questions, then we can also have rhetorical comments too.

You don't have to support the war to support the men and women who have proudly taken the oath to serve and protect out country. Many people celebrate Easter whether they have a "religious background" or not. A lot of my kid's friends and family think Easter is about the bunny and baskets. So just because they are sending care packages at Easter does not mean whatever is in them is tied to the religious meaning of Easter, its just another show of support for our troops.

I may not support the war, but i certainly support fellow Americans soldiers abroad. Thank you for help bringing a small part of America to them.

If I was serious about supporting the war, I'd have waited til July Fourth to send any kind of donations...not all troops have the same religious backgrounds.
