People should be writing letters alright. They should be writing to ask if anyone has truly been held responsible for "Operation Fast and Furious". Hundreds of innocent people killed by the more than 2,000 weapons funnelled to Mexican drug cartels by the Obama DOJ and ATF. People should be writing letters alright, to demand the cartel gang members operating in hundreds of U.S. cities be rounded up and deported because if Obama and the Dems had their way,all of these gang members would be given amnesty. People should be writing letters alright, demanding that politicians start obeying the laws which they swore to do in their oaths to take office. Look at the abysmal record of Obama appointees so far. Why should we add one more?

A national registry of gun possesson is unacceptable. The ATF is more dangerous to the country than any criminal.

The ATF is nothing more than a bunch of jack boot thugs. They botched the Fast & Furious operation and should be put out of business for their total incompetence.

"Fast and Furious" was a stupid plan to track guns across the border. The problem was and still is that the cartels pay Americans big bucks to buy hundreds of guns at a time. All they have to do is pass a simple background check. That information is destroyed once passed and they deliver the guns to the cartels. We need a registration!

Registration would not have prevented the recent shootings. Criminals don't follow laws. Come on, thats not hard to understand.

A well written letter gets absurd replies. I actually thought that there would be some sane responses. I should have known better. Once again Fast and Furious began under the Bush administration. When Attorney General Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. Under Bush it was called 'Operation Wide Receiver' Look it up.

And once again please pay no attention to khulumzurug. He says very bigoted remarks and should be banned from these forums.

Registration MAY-MAY- prevent some violent crimes. Come on, that's not hard to understand. Great letter but the usual irrelevant arguments on this topic prevail, thankfully they represent minority of public opinion on this issue.

Thanks for the 8;21am post, and the 8:17am post for factually responding. However facts on this blog do nothing more than draw disagrees, and personal attacks.

This is a mental health issue, why do these crazies kill people. Figure that out, limit their exposer to any weapons, etc. now that would get results and would have stopped at least this last shooting.

Another point, we have people walking our streets that have used a gun to commit a crime. Why? We need to keep these people locked up since they have demonstrated their willingness to use guns for crimes.

Registering legal guns purchased my law abiding Americans wont help. All that does is tell the gov who owns what gun. (Only applies to legal gun owners)

I believe the issues that should pass without any objection are the background check, and addressing the mental health problem--most others are DOA.

limiting the availabllity of more guns doesn't sit well with the "minority" of the NRA.

For those who may have missed it ""SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Weeks after New York enacted the nation's toughest gun laws, California lawmakers said Thursday they want their state to do even more in response to recent mass shootings, particularly the Connecticut school massacre.

Democrats who control the state Legislature revealed 10 proposals that they said would make California the most restrictive state for possessing firearms." Yup the democrats are now out to see who can outdo the other ones at restricting 2nd Amendment rights. "Lawmakers also want to make some prohibitions apply to current gun owners, not just to people who buy weapons in the future". cont

""The legislation also would ban possession of magazines holding more than 10 bullets, even by those who now own them legally. All weapons would have to be registered. Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California, promised that gun proponents will fight the measures in court if they become law. It strikes me as if these folks are playing some sort of game of one-upsmanship with New York at the expense of law-abiding citizens, and that's just unconscionable," he said about lawmakers" Hold onto your hats and guns folks it's just starting."

It is well known that a young chimp has the strength of 5 grown men. Less known is the fact that an 8 year old mentally challenged boy has the strength of 2 grown men. Now, can you imagine how an unarmed law enforcement person could handle a mentally challenged 5 year old chimp? Didn't think so.... If you do not believe me just check out Michelle 9the chipmunk) Malkin or Jane Goodall.
