rodrickson, what are you talking about? Do you go to these council meetings or read the paper? Mr DeJoy advocates NOT using the fund balance. And yes, he was an advocate for borrowing via bonds to purchase new city equiptment that posed a danger to the employees as some of the equiptment was over 20 years old. You are against that? Are you another individual that just posts without having your facts straight?

I would expect anyone with the name "taxpayer" would be concerned with DeJoy's appointment. He is the leading advocate of using greater and greater installments of the city's fund balance (surplus taxdollars) as well as the latest rounds of taking on loans to pay for city vehicles (more taxdollars to pay down interest).

One thing is certain, JURA has a lot on its plate but it will have to abide by an annual budget.

I say good luck to Vince.

Keystroke, you need to get your facts straight. Go to a city council meeting sometme and see how this individual handles himself. Look at his resume before talking trash. Kabob Billy, well the name says it all. Taxpayer, not sure why all the hate, but makes me think you have an axe to grind. Always negative, always bitter. I just wonder how much public service you have done?

Sounds to me like Taxpayer 58 is chomping on a big bucket full of sour grapes.

Ah, the disappointment of wanting someone else for the job. Perhaps himself?!!

Tear down a good man for self serving reasons. How sad.

Sounds like Taxpayer 58 wasn't reading the same resume info that I did. Go check it out for yourself on the city's web site.

Lets see, he is currently the Director of BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING for the second largest radiology company in the nation. Had a long carreer in marketing and sales for 3 Fortune 500 companies. Developed 2 new businesses (one that he owned himself) in Jtown and both are still going strong.

On top of all of this, he has served on the Boards for the 3 major agencies, JURA, JLDC and JBPU, that he will now be running or working closely with. And in his time on City Council he has learned a thing or two about housing and neighborhood issues, including helping to create the city's current housing and neighborhood plan.

Sounds to me like a pretty good pedigree for the job . Gotta wonder where TXP 58 is coming from

I will reserve judgement for now on political motivations but see that city has his resume posted and seems to be lacking in experience in any of the works areas that he will be responsible to oversee. Being a caring councilman is a good quality but is not an automatic qualifer to head a department or be a manager. When you hire a someone as a manager you usually don't hear your new hire say "Learning every facet of this job will take some time"...extensive job knowledge skills are normally required to even be considred for management level positions. Hardly a "national-quality candidate". If it quacks like a duck...

Mr. DeJOy is my councilman and I have spoken to him on his campaign trail. Don't rely on the PJ for all the info, keyastroke, he has extensive experience that will make him a valuable asset to our development corp. Ever since he moved back to this area, which many successful, educated individuals DO NOT do, he has been involved in our community. KabobBilly, what do you do to help our community? The people that serve our community do ALOT and for not much money. The willingness to serve is always evident come election time. Instead of criticizing, join the effort to make Jamestown a better place to live.

Here'e my advice..develop Fluvanna Ave, give incentives to convert multi unit houses into single family homes to drive renting elsewhere, demolish eyesores at a quicker pace, do anything---beg---to bring businesses in...

And his vast experiance as an x-ray clinic in Amherst shows his ability to be sucessful in this position. Interesting. I wonder if Mr. DeJoy will be able to "Develop" anything in this city.
