Once they put fines, fees and revenue genraion behind the law ...Joe will be all over it if it fills his coffers and expands his power and empire. Anthing to legitimize his prison guards as real police in NYS.

A Bushmaster is NOT an assault rifle! It is a normal semi-automatic rifle that has cosmetic features to make it LOOK like a military rifle. Pistol grips, bayonet lugs, flash-suppressors do not enhance the bullet energy nor the rate of fire.

Also, it is not “powerful”. The .223 has 1293 FtLb. Here are some rounds for popular hunting rifles: .22-250 1741 FtLb, 7mm-08 2339 FtLb, .243 2080 FtLb, .270 2706 FtLb, .30-06 2820 FtLb, and .308 2648 FtLb. Every one of these are a lot more “powerful” than the .223

The law was passed week ago, there has been plenty of time to read the bill and come to a decision. The Sherriff and the Sherriffs association have take no stand on the issue at all. They have only said that there must be refinement to the law, essentially a provision that no longer makes it illegal for the police in New York to carry their wepons. It is time to take a stand, will you or will you not force law abiding citizens to give up their right to peacefully own a gun? Now it is "assult" wepons, and number of bullets in a magazine. But in a few years it will be something else entirely as we have seen in every administration to be in Albany. We are still not safer after years of gun law and registrations and buy backs. This system does not work, time to try something else.

"I am obviously a strong supporter of the Constitution and the Second Amendment, and part of that is people should have the right to bear arms," Gerace said. "But I have a serious problem about high-capacity, high-powered assault rifles." but he forgot to say I am againist law abiding citizens from owning them. I agree with him about criminals not having them, but then again they do not follow the law. That is why they are criminals.

Really a pair of scissors? Now you know what kind of idiots we have running this country. This has nothing to do with guns it has evrrthing to do with the left trying to take our guns away. So please quit trying to say otherwise. If our sherriff were telling the truth he would tell you Coumo broke the law and the constitution when he went behind closed doors at night and put his safe act into effect. The state constitution clearly says you cannot do this at night with the doors closed to the public. But like King Obama the constittution does not apply to them. I know you leftys are cheering for them . But what ya gonna do when Obama comes for your rights and you can bet he will. Thats how kings work.

In terms of "power" the .223 is most suitable as a woodchuck/varmit round. It is commonly viewed a being only minimally sufficient for use on deer sized game, something which should be used only by the most expert of shots for such purposes. Even the old, but stll popular 30-30, 1st developed in the late 1800's and used chiefly in "John Wayne" lever action "cowboy" rifles("as seen on TV!); is far more powerful. Of course the .223 can be made into an excellent target round. If you attend local highpower target shoots you'll find that a majority of the rifles used are "tricked out" AR's.

Thru all of this rhetoric, it was determined that all rounds fired in Connecticut were from a pistol and the .243 weopon was found in the assailants trunk, despite the fact that the coroner publiclly stated otherwise. Power of suggestion???

The DHS video also states that you should turn off the sound on your phone, "even the vibrate." So how do you contact 911? Using semi fore flags while under your desk?

TSA confiscated my good scissors. The ones at work have the rounded safety ends so we don’t accidently hurt ourselves! We can have the pointed ones, but we have to take a 3 hours scissors safety course first!

how about doing something about the anti-depressants and anti-psychotic drugs the majority of shooters have been on or were previously on?????? guns don't kill people. people on meds kill people!!!!!! read any medication pamphlet from drug companies, they all cause agressive, violent behavior, suicidal thoughts. watch the commercials on tv, they always say it at the end that they can cause suicidal thoughts, agression, even death. people need to wise. up. now according to the psychiatrists, we are all mentally ill. every human emotion is a mental disorder. you can't be sad, mad, aggravated, etc or you are mentally ill. wake up people before it's too late.

I don't like AR's (AR stands for Armalite bought by Colt) or AK's. The 5.56 (.223) may be a varmint cartridge, but the US military decided to use it as the primary people killer. It doesn't know the enemy from a school child. Sure there are many with more foot lbs of energy on target. Only matters at distance and through obstacles. The AR15 is the primary platform for lots of accessories and even changing calibers. Who cares if a .22 rimfire has the look of an M-16. It means nothing except in the mind of the wannabe badazz or uninformed gun hater.

THE LAUGHINGSTOCK STATE (renamed from the Empire State). With decisions such as you can only load 7 in your 10 round magazine. That bill provision will go down as 1 of the dumbest decisions in the history of mankind. The LAUGHINGSTOCK state.
