The 2-2-13@1:48PM asks for "false fox reporting"--2 doocey doozies, "drop in net worth under Obama" and "the silver spoon" false reports. Karl Rove-"the "brazil loan false report." Huckabee "the Obama foreign student" false report." None of the above from "edited reports from msnbc or the Daily show. DETAILS SUPPLIED UPON REQUEST. FOX cannot be trusted for the truth.

Just for the record, if the minimum wage had kept pace with inflation since 1968 (the high point in real dollars), it would be about $10 an hour today.

Copy and paste this in your browser: *******en.wikipedia****/wiki/File:History_of_US_federal_minimum_wage_increases.svg

If it had kept pace with the increase in productivity, it would be nearly twice that.

Now who do you think got all that money? I know it wasn't me.

Part 2 -

So where does tha leave you?

When I moved away in 1972, the city had roughly 45,000 people. Is it anywhere near that now? If not, and know it's not, then you might ask why.

My short take on it: the young grow, some go to college, most of them move elsewhere. You can't grow an economy without them, and they have no reason to stay.

Wow! Wages must be set low to attract business. I guess that's why Silicon Valley, Northern VIrginia and Austim Texas are in such dire straits. They only have all those high paying jobs, and are locted in areas that are nice to live. But the Jamestown model is: lower pay.

Here's a hint. Business owners tend to avoid areas that have poor schools, inferior housing stock and no recreation. After all, they have to live there too. If jamestonw wants to compete for good jobs, then the place needs a major prucing-up.

Come on. You have a beautiful lake, that is not well maintained (too expensive, I assume) and a lot of natural beauty. What you don't have is an economy, and you won't get one by racing to the bottom.

You don't have the clout to get military bases or other Federal facilitities to offset the lack of private sector jobs. You can't rely on a bottom feeder company to provide jobs either.

---just remembered--I believe this from the fox debate coverage. Romney repeated fox's contention that the pres. didn't refer to bengazi as a "terrorist attack." Rather embarrassing for fox and romney -wouldn't you agree-- but then candy crowley is a "liberal" partisan.I'm sure other examples odf fox "reporting" will follow.

madman, why don't you quit bashing Fox, Benghazi is the latest example where Fox was the only major network reporting and everything they reported in September was substantiated by the State Dept. fact-finding as reported to Congress in December. Why don't you give me an example of something that the NEWS part of Fox News was false when reporting on a subject that was critical of the Obama Administration. And don't give me some edited version that you saw on MSNBC or the Daily Show.

Yeah, maybe the better raise the minimum wage.

CNSNews****) – In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.

Under Obamacare, Americans will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.

Oh, and Madman, if you get a care loan, you are expected and required to buy a car. Same with a mortage, etc. If the government gave money for "shovel ready jobs" or infrastructure projects, the government should have made sure that's where it went.

Seadog, did you read what I said? The shovel ready projects were there but the states and counties chose to use the money to balance their budgets. First you want less government, and now you say you want Biden to be watchdog to make sure funds used for shovel ready jobs? You can't have both. As for jobs created, go to dept of labor website and see how many jobs this president has created. You would be shocked. Everyone forgets when he toke office, this economy was losing roughly 700K jobs/month. Don't just spit out everything FOX says. Most of time, they are wrong or leave out the rest of the story.

THIS JUST IN: WASHINGTON – "As new weekly jobs numbers emerged Thursday showing a jump in unemployment claims and a report out the day prior showed the economy shrinking in late 2012, President Obama is effectively laying off his jobs council.

Yep, even though the stimulus was supposed to solve the problems of the economy, it's still Bush's fault. WHEN will this economy be Obama's? Wasn't the stimulus supposed to create jobs?

"and present" you ask? Yes, WHAT is the CURRENT unemployment rate? Do you even know the CURRENT rate? I'm not even counting the numbers of unemployed no longer being counted? Remember Obama's statement that "if he didn't turn the economy around in three years he'd be a one term president"?? I don't see the unemployment rate any different than in 2009. I do see the GDP went negative. One more quarter of negative growth and guess what,.....wait for it, WE will be back in a recession. Where are all those green jobs gravel? Where is the 5-6% unemployment rate? Numbers don't lie. So, prove it to me that the economy, not just the market, is turning around.

and logically we could conclude that the feb.2009 numbers if not more could be laid at the feet of the previous administration--but don't blame them.

both sides of the min. wage debate have made valid points. I would question the accuracy of the 7:58am post reletive to the unemployment numbers in 2009 and present, but I will check.

Madman - you may be partially right but - where are those thousands of "shovel ready jobs" Obama claimed he was going to create? Why is unemployment still where it was when he took over? Where are all those green energy companies that got billions of dollars? And finally, why didn't Obama and Sheriff Joe Biden (remember he was going to be the watchdog) mandate the stimulus money could only be used for what it was intended - infrastructure and jobs?

Seadog, the stimulus may not have been as big a success as it should have been mainly because most municipalities did not use the funds as they were intended to be used. Most states and counties, including Chautauqua, used their share of the stimulus funds to balance their budgets instead of making the hard decisions to make cuts. Blame your local politicans, not this president.

CharlesK, I can tell you there are areas in this country that have a shortage of workers with skill sets. Your comments may hold true for Jamestown, but if I was out of work, and had some marketable skill sets, I would go to where the work is. People need to realize sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it to.

The problem madman is that almost all jobs these days are part-time, with no or minimal benefits. And a lot of places pay just a little over minimum wage so they can claim "we pay more than minimum." A lot of these positions are critical to family income and are not just kids jobs. It's not as easy to just go out and get something better as you suggest - and I'm talking about people with management skills too.

If Cuomo is so concerned about "living wages" then quit blocking fracking from going forward. Even the EPA said there has been no proven environmental reasons not to frack but Lisa Jackson (the disgraced former head of EPA) she was against it because SOMEDAY there MIGHT be an adverse impact. Then the hypocrite (Obama surrogate) OK'd increasing ethanol mixture to 15% despite the overwhelming evidence that it would be financially catastrophic for millions of car and boat owners. Typical policy from those who brought us "Cash for Clunkers" where it took more energy to destroy and replace the clunkers than will be saved by the newer vehicles.
