section6fan, you never criticised the Maple Grove P-J when they were giving you front page headlines. Get yourself a crying towel.

How do you merge two football opponents for one season and then return to being opponents the next? Very likely you don't. A merge may be necessary, and the right step to take for all the reasons you list, but for Pete's sake, let the Maple Grove community have at least one night to mourn this significant change. Red Dragon Football as we know it will never be the same. To the outside observer, it may seem easy to 'forget the boos.'. But these are expressions from a community who has loved this team with their heart, sweat and money for years. Certainly they're entitled to express their feelings too, and have the board listen and understand and not forget them. The board's decision is an end to a very proud and memorable era. Yes, we all have to get used to this era's inevitable end and the start of a new one, but jeesh, grant us at least one night of pure emotion without public admonishment from our local paper.

"opposite sides of the lake? makes great sense."

So then, people that live in the Maple Grove District don't go to Lakewood to shop either? After all, it's on the opposide side of the lake.

You gotta love the logic behind that comment.

A good idea. Like the editorial states - better start getting used to it - it's going to become the new normal. It's called survival.
