By Patrick Fanelli, pfanelli@post-journal.com

DUNKIRK — A company in northern Chautauqua County remains the largest supplier of private-label ice cream and frozen novelties in the eastern United States. Operating out of its 280,000-square-foot, 13-acre facility on Ice Cream Drive off Route 60 in Dunkirk, Fieldbrook Foods Corp. produces ice cream and other frozen treats for supermarkets, smaller retailers and food service providers throughout the United States. According to Fieldbrook Foods, the plant is capable of producing 40 million gallons of ice cream a year, and the more than 1,500 varieties of ice cream and frozen novelties are sold in more than 30,000 outlets worldwide.
