Church To Host Thursday Dinner

June 30, 2009

Christ First United Methodist Church, corner of Buffalo and Lakeview streets, Jamestown, will host ‘‘Thanksgiving in July,’’ a complete roast turkey dinner with homemade pies from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The dinner is open to the public; the cost, an $8 donation for adults; $3, children. Takeouts are available. Reserved tickets may be obtained by calling the church office at 664-5803. Tickets will also be available at the door. Proceeds will benefit the mission trip to West Virginia, other mission and outreach efforts.

Watson girls held their 74th reunion recently in the Marvin House with 21 attending. Joanne Lundgren gave the invocation. Committee members were Pat Helin, Kathy Pangborn, Vicki Acquisto, Fran Skogland, Elba Lawson and Mary Weedon.

Hiking Club To Meet July 18

The Chautauqua Hiking Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Quality Market in Mayville to car pool to the end of Hannum Road for a Chautauqua Gorge splash hike. This outing, listed as easy, is suited for adults and children.

ELLINGTON — The Food Express of Western New York will be at Sherman at 11 a.m. Thursday. For the month of July only the truck will be at the Sherman Central School parking lot, on the corner of Willard and Park Street.
