Be Proud Of Our Nation
Throughout the world there are those who work hard to convince Americans that our nation is nothing special. They never seem to tire of proclaiming that our government, our culture, our economy — everything about us — is, somehow, lacking. Most of the time the potshots come from other countries and other cultures. Sometimes the criticism comes from our fellow Americans who have special-interest axes to grind. And, as has been the case since our nation was founded, there are those who are not mature enough either in years or in perceptiveness to understand the greatness of the United States of America and its people. We Americans are rather well known — stereotyped by those in many other countries, as a matter of fact — for being proud of our nation. It seems not to have occurred to our detractors that we may have something about which to be proud.
