4-H fun continues at the Fair, various competition results announced
The 2008 Chautauqua County Fair has been a maze of excitement as county 4-H members prepare, care for and show their animals. The weather on Wednesday was no exception to the excitement, with the smell of rain overriding the smell of sugary sweets and animals, the 2008 Chautauqua County Fair continued on. Show results for the 4-H exhibitors also continue to reveal excitement. Tuesday’s sheep show saw all sunny skies with 43 Market Lambs and 78 Breeding Sheep showing. Grand Champion Ram was received by Cassandra Chapman, with her Shropshire, and reserve champion ram being won by Brandon Boyer exhibiting his Suffolk. Grand Champion Ewe was won by Maxwell Peterson, who also showed a Suffolk, with the reserve champion Ewe honors being received by Ben Peterson with his Shropshire. In showmanship classes sheep exhibitors are judged on their showing abilities, including how to handle their animal and in some cases others‚ animals as well.
