Here is a fun trip I had back in April of this year. The store had a coupon for a free bottle of a new type of brand name shampoo. Every couple of months they have a loss leader advertised. They also had John Freida products on sale and if you purchase $10.00 worth you would also receive $5.00 on free bonus bucks in the future. Between my store card, which I scan when I enter the store for any latest discounts, my bonus bucks and two manufacturers coupon $3.00 off one J.F. product I began with a retail value of $18.97 and spent 1.05 which was actually the taxes after purchase. Normally I wouldn’t buy the expensive stuff so it was even more fun to daydream I had outwitted an expensive salon.

I'm a little disappointed that I just came across this blog now and not when it was first published. I certainly like the idea of the PJ helping out it's community financially. Yes it is true one of benefits of the coupons is being able to combine one with a current sale. Another is to make that particular purchase also work for you towards a future one. For example, a favorite store of mine is CVS, mentioned previously in another writing on this blog. With their rewards card a shopper can earn bonus bucks depending on dollar amounts spent throughout the year. I had on several occasions last year received coupons for values of $5.00, $10.00 of free merchandise. When I utilize those specific bonus bucks I also try to choose items that are not only also on sale but I have a manufacturer’s coupon for. If they are also an item that is an earner towards future bonus bucks I have struck gold again.
