Frank's Forecast #7

October 22, 2010 - Mike Frank
About that whole #1 ranking and BCS thing......never mind.

I said in last week's edition "like I would EVER desert my team." That's still true, although they pulled a faceplant against the Badgers.

But hey, it's time for high school playoffs! And soon it will be time for NFL playoffs! As for college, yeah yeah "every week is a playoff." Keep that in mind when we get to December and Oregon, Oklahoma and the SEC champ are all undefeated.

Well, anyway, 21-11 was last week's result. College was really brutal, with OSU, Nebraska and my "heart over head" picks of the 'Cuse and Cal not working out.

HEEEERE WE GO:

HIGH SCHOOL (Playoffs)

CLASS AA

Jamestown (4-3) at Riverside (4-3) — This one is Saturday afternoon. Red Raiders started hot, then cooled down in their last couple games. I'll bet on the local boys for this one — JAMESTOWN

CLASS C

S4 Allegany-Limestone (2-5) vs. N1 Grover Cleveland (7-0) — Gators don't have enough for the upset — GROVER CLEVELAND

S3 Salamanca (4-3) at N2 Wilson (4-3) — Warriors have had a roller coaster ride, which ends here — WILSON

N3 Cleveland Hill (5-2) at S2 Fredonia (6-1) — Hillbillies gave Southwestern (defending state champs) a fight, so they move on — FREDONIA

N4 Gowanda (1-6) at S1 Southwestern (7-0) — Cruiseville for the Trojans but the road to the Carrier Dome starts somewhere — SOUTHWESTERN

CLASS D

E4 Pine Valley (4-3) at W1 Silver Creek (7-0) — Black Knights move toward knocking Cardinals off the hill — SILVER CREEK

E3 Frewsburg (5-2) at W2 Maple Grove (6-1) — Bears will be seeing red, and that's not a good thing — MAPLE GROVE

W4 Westfield (4-3) at E1 Randolph (7-0) — Cardinals looking to repeat last year's good times — RANDOLPH

W3 Chautauqua Lake (5-2) at E2 Portville (6-1) — Panthers rebound from big loss to Cardinals — PORTVILLE

———

COLLEGE

#3 Oklahoma (6-0) at #18 Missouri (6-0) — Battle of Big 12 division leaders. Sooners take care of Mizzou's title hopes. Tigers haven't won this since 1998 — OKLAHOMA

Air Force (5-2) at #4 TCU (7-0) — Horned Frogs have no margin for error. Triple option can be a doozy — AIR FORCE

#6 LSU (7-0) at #5 Auburn (7-0) — Mad Hatter and Co. can't keep up with Tigers offense — AUBURN

#8 Michigan State (7-0) at Northwestern (5-1) — Wildcats get tamed by Sparty — MICHIGAN STATE

#10 Wisconsin (6-1) at #13 Iowa (5-1) — Haven't seen too much of the Hawkeyes. Saw WAY too much of the Badgers last week — IOWA

Purdue (4-2) at #11 Ohio State (6-1) — This was the big stumble for OSU last year. So you've got revenge for last year, proving last week was not the norm, and Homecoming. Run it up, boys — OHIO STATE

Notre Dame (4-3) vs. Navy (4-2) — Might as well pick another service academy — NAVY

———

NFL

Buffalo (0-5) at Baltimore (4-2) — Bills get back to losing ways — RAVENS

Washington (3-3) at Chicago (4-2) — Bears offense and Skins defense both poor — BEARS

Cincinnati (2-3) at Atlanta (4-2) — Falcons D is banged up — BENGALS

Philadelphia (4-2) at Tennessee (4-2) — Kolb is playing for his job. Young and Collins both showing signs of wear — EAGLES

Pittsburgh (4-1) at Miami (3-2) — Dolphins wins have all been on the road, so — STEELERS

St. Louis (3-3) at Tampa Bay (3-2) — Rams zapped SD, they can handle TB — RAMS

Cleveland (1-5) at New Orleans (4-2) — Won't be much of a party for Colt McCoy — SAINTS

Jacksonville (3-3) at Kansas City (3-2) — Chiefs keep control of AFC West — CHIEFS

San Francisco (1-5) at Carolina (0-5) — 49ers got a win, now they'll give one — PANTHERS

Arizona (3-2) at Seattle (3-2) — If you can beat the SB champs — CARDINALS

Oakland (2-4) at Denver (2-4) — Broncos are playing first division game. Raiders starting Kyle Boller — BRONCOS

New England (4-1) at San Diego (2-4) — Not the same juice as a couple years ago — PATRIOTS

Minnesota (2-3) at Green Bay (3-3) — Packers have more than enough, plus sticking it to Favre — PACKERS

NY Giants (4-2) at Dallas (1-4) — Fire Wade already. So much for "home" Super Bowl — GIANTS

Keep SPEAKING FRANKLY!
