Let’s talk about the one band that is on my personal must see list for Fest. Nothington is a bonafide rock band from San Fransisco. Driving rhythms, gruff vocals, empowering lyrics. What else do you want from a band? To this date, they’ve put out three full length albums that have allowed them to perfect their sound. There’s a lot of bands that sound like them, but you can tell when it’s a Nothington song. It’s easy for a band to blend in within a scene of overpopulation. Nothington stands out because they simply do it better than most of their peers.
The first verse off of their latest album, “Borrowed Time” sums up what this band is all about.
“I’ve been living in a reckless dream, but I’ve still got a pace to keep. I know you’re tired. Can’t seem to find my stride. At least I’ve got you by my side. We’ve got to find our way out.” - “Captive Audience”
Sometimes metaphors are required to manifest those innermost thoughts and feelings. Sometimes breaking things down to their simplest form allows us to reflect on the reality of the situation. Nothington demonstrate the ability to be poetic without overexerting themselves. Their songs find their way straight into your heart and fill the gaps where it may be broken or bruised. This can be said for countless other bands I enjoy, and probably for your favorite band. Nothington still just finds a way to stand out because they are just that good.
