Less Than Five Weeks
April 8, 2013 - Liz Skoczylas
Five weeks from this very minute... I will be on my honeymoon with my new husband. Just putting that out there! Sun and sand, here we come!
Anyway, I went for my first dress fitting this past Friday, and my worst fear was realized. My dress does not fit.
When I ordered my dress, they of course took all my measurements. Looking at the dress sizing charts (which are sized incredibly stupidly...) I was smack-dab in between two sizes. At the time, I was dieting, so I was like, "Put me down for the smaller size!" Then, the diet ended. I got a little loose with the diet, because I love pizza, wings and ice cream. And vodka. So, although I was trying to eat healthy and exercise, I wasn't being as militant as I was when I bought the dress.
Friday, when I went to put the dress on... It was actually too big! Which, to me, means that pizza, wings, ice cream and vodka are diet super-foods. But, in reality, although I haven't been monitoring my weight like I was, I was apparently doing pretty ok with it.
So, alterations need to happen. It needs to be taken in about an inch. Which, I'm totally cool with. I celebrated with pizza, wings and strawberry daiquiris (which, ok, is rum, not vodka) last night. But now, I'm on the straight and narrow until the wedding. I swear.
I don't actually recommend a diet of pizza, wings, ice cream and alcohol if you are getting married, though. Do not try this at home.
As for other wedding-related items ... I have something old, something new, something borrowed ... And I'm still working on something blue. But, I do have a penny for my shoe.
The RSVPs have been pouring in to my parents. So far, there have been very few people responding no, which is exciting. Even more exciting is how international our wedding is becoming. Friends and family will be coming from Canada, Chile and Germany, so far. And, obviously, the U.S. We also have guests invited from Paraguay and Poland, so we are still waiting to see if those countries will be represented! And, the husband of one of my friends is from Ireland. So, I guess we should count that, too.
Looking back, I can't believe that it has been almost a year since Nick and I got engaged. This year has happened so fast, and I'm sure that these next few weeks will fly by!
