The Ultimate iPod Touch

September 12, 2012 - Dave Hecei

Today is iPhone 5 day. Yes, it is the 12th and all we can do now is sit and wait for the Apple press event to begin (just under 4 hours). Those who are there and those who are watching online are convinced today will bring the next generation iPhone, which will likely be called the iPhone 5. Today also brings some new rumors about the next generation iPod Touch – and if true, sounds impressive.

Rumors have the next iPhone design with a larger display. This makes sense since most all other smartphones, the ones from LG, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and even Nokia, all have screens larger than 4-inches. The 3.5-inch iPhone looks outdated next to these newer models. Since the Touch is largely based on the iPhone, it makes sense that it will also be updated with a larger screen.

A recent post lists some of the things that might make it into the next generation Touch.

The current Touch is available in either black or white, but the next Touch could bring some other colors. The Shuffle and Nano is available in a rainbow of colors. Of course there will be the bigger display, but more importantly will be the faster A5 processor with faster graphics. The camera might finally get to be on par with at least the old iPhone 4. And then there might be the one thing that could really change everything – GPS.

If Apple can add all this together and put Siri in the mix, the Kindle HD shouldn’t be worried about the iPad mini, they need to worry about the ultimate iPod Touch.
