MAYVILLE — An Ashville man was killed in a one-car crash late Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called to the crash around 10:30 p.m. on Beaujean Road in the town of Chautauqua. An investigation found that a single vehicle left the road and struck a telephone pole, causing the vehicle to break in half and catching the pole on fire.

The driver, 33-year-old Roger Beaujean Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted late Saturday by Mayville volunteer firefighters and the Westfield Police Department. No charges are pending, the Sheriff’s Office said.
