JPD Officer Suspended After Felony Charge Mon.

An officer with the Jamestown Police Department has been suspended without pay following a domestic violence complaint.

Kenneth V. Nellis III, 40, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony. The charge was the result of a complaint against Nellis, though details weren’t released Tuesday.

He was taken into custody at a Schuyler Street residence Monday evening, Jamestown police announced in a press release.

Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings confirmed that Nellis had been suspended as a result of the charge.

“We received a (domestic violence) complaint, and as a result we made the arrest,” Snellings told The Post-Journal.

Nellis — a four-year member of the city police department — was arraigned Tuesday in Jamestown City Court, where bail was set at $2,000. A city court clerk said an order of protection was issued during Nellis’ court appearance in addition to the case being moved from city court to another jurisdiction.
